How to Start the A Watery Grave Quest
To begin the A Watery Grave quest in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, you’ll need to complete the Welcome to the Family quest, which is part of the Dark Brotherhood questline.

Kill Captain Gaston Tussaud
To locate the target, you’ll need to travel to the Waterfront District in the Imperial City, where the captain’s ship, Marie Elena, is docked. Once you’ve located the boat, follow the dock around to the west side, where you’ll see some cargo sitting along the railing overlooking the ship. Approach the crate in the back to get a prompt to “Hide in the crate”. Doing so will see you transported into the Marie Elena.
Now that you’re aboard the ship, you’ll want to head to the other side and take the ladder up to the middeck. From there, head through the doorway, take a right, and go down the hall.
When you reach the room at the end, take another right, followed by a left through another doorway. You’ll then spot two pirates ahead. Deal with both of them, then head to where they were standing. Look to the left (before the doorway to the next room) to spot a ladder leading you up to the Captain’s Cabin. Use it to reach the target.
In the Captain’s Cabin, you’ll find Captain Gaston Tussaud. Take him out and then loot his body to find a key. You can use that key to open the chest by his bed. You’ll want to be quick because the commotion from fighting the captain will draw in a pair of pirates. To leave the ship, you’ll want to head to the back of the cabin, past the table, to find a door. Use the captain’s key to unlock it and head through. This will bring you back outside.
Turn in the Contract
Return to the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary and speak with Vicente Valtieri to complete the quest. As a reward, you’ll receive the Black Band, which applies the following effects: Fortify Light Armor on Self, Fortify Security on Self, and Resist Magic on Self. You’ll also begin the next quest, Blood of the Damned.
