How to Start the Necessary Evil Quest
The Necessary Evil main quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance II will automatically begin after completing the Back in the Saddle main quest.
Necessary Evil Walkthrough
Speak with Capon
First, head to the combat arena and speak with Black Bartosch. Tell him that Lord von Bergow sent you. You’ll then get to pick a weapon. In addition, you’ll get some armor: riding cuirass and gambeson short.
Find Hans around the castle and speak with him. We found him leaning against a wall near the forge. If you talk to him a second time, you can fast travel to the prisoner.
Interrogate the prisoner in the torture chamber with Capon
Speak with the prisoner. If you pass the persuasion checks, you’ll get the information from him without having to torture him.
Otherwise, you’ll have to go the torture route.
- Where is your band hiding?
- We already know anyway.
- (Punch)
- (View Tongs)
- (Hit harder)
- (Take a hammer)
- Who is your leader?
- Nebak told me about him.
- Is Istvan with you?
- (Take instrument and torture)
- That’s all I want to know.
- Tell me more about your leader.
- (Take an instrument)
- (Torture)
- I’ll believe you.
- Is someone in the region helping you?
- But you will. (Take an instrument)
- (Torture)
- Let’s change the subject.
- Why did you ambush us?
- We’re not on von Bergow’s side!
- (Take an instrument and torture)
- (Slap)
Inform von Bergow of the interrogation results
At this point, you’ll need to decide whether you want to tell von Bergow about Young Semine. Choose the “Let’s keep quiet about Semine.” option if you want the Silence is Golden trophy.
Don’t tell von Bergow that Young Semine is in League with the bandits
Return to Otto von Bergow and tell him all the options except that Young Semine is in league with the bandits. If you told him about Semine earlier, you must convince him not that it was a mistake. If you didn’t, this won’t be an option.
After the conversation ends, you’ll get the Silence is Golden trophy since, thanks to you, the raid on Semine didn’t happen. After your conversation, the Necessary Evil main quest will end, and the For Victory! quest will begin!
Tell von Bergow that Young Semine is in League with the bandits
Tell Otto von Bergow everything you learned during the interrogation. You’ll then need to wait until Hashek has prepared his men (at 17). Once you’ve waited enough, speak with Capon about Semine. You will then set off on your horse with the group to Semine. Follow them and talk with Burgrave Hashek of Kozle as you go.
When you arrive, a cutscene will trigger. You’ll have to decide whether to side with Hashek and burn the place to the ground or stand against it getting burned down.
Side with Hashek
If you side with Hashek, you’ll have to fight Lord Semine and his men, as he will not give up his only son. Hashek won’t stop there and kill EVERYONE, and we do mean EVERYONE in Semine.
You’ll then need to find Olda, who is in the room at the very top of the house. When you find him, you’ll either let him go or tell him that he’ll stand trial and call for Hashek. Keep in mind that Hashek won’t give him a trial and will kill him just like everyone else.
Once everyone has died, the party will leave. You’ll then follow them back and report to von Bergow in the morning (at 8). After speaking with von Bergow, the Necessary Evil quest will be complete, and For Victory! will begin.
Side with Lord Semine
If you side with Lord Semine, you’ll have to kill Hashek and the soldiers you rode in with. After the battle, you must decide what to tell von Bergow. You’ll then hop on your horse, follow Hans back, and report to von Bergow in the morning (at 8).
After speaking with von Bergow, the Necessary Evil quest will be complete, and For Victory! will begin.
