How to Start the Old Castle Town Kidnapper
The Old Castle Town Kidnapper bounty will be started automatically while playing through the story on 06/23 as our target for the Exhibition of Bravery. While accepting it, we’ll meet Captain Bardon, who posted the bounty on behalf of his home, Matria. An ex-knight is going around kidnapping children, and they just can’t seem to catch a break in the case. Swallowing his pride, the captain decided to post a bounty in the optical.

Travel to Martira
On 06/24, you’ll begin traveling to Martira by progressing the main story. Upon arriving there on 06/27, you’ll meet with Captain Bardon, who will give you more details on the matter and mention that Lady Joanna, who runs the town, will want to meet with you. This meeting happens the next day, on 06/28, and she tells the group that if they can bring Heismay to justice, she will petition the town to back up as a candidate for the throne.
Gather Intel
After the meeting with Lady Joanna, the party will decide to start gathering intel. Begin in Krigante Gate, then head to Stairstone Market, ending in Thoroughfare Square. You can find a list of the people you’ll need to talk to below and where they can be found. Make sure to follow the order in which they are listed. After speaking with the Hungover Man, the group will review everything they’ve heard. Morris will then show up and tell the group to wait for the sandflash to get past the sandworms.
- Kriegante Gate
- Austere Man
- Stairstone Market
- Hardy Butcher – near MesmerEyes Apothecary
- Tired Man – in front of Ekaran Armours
- Thoroughfare Square
- Informed Man – near the tavern (pay 150 reeve)
- Hungover Man – near the fountain
Prepare for the Sandflash
Based on the intel from Morris, the next Sandflash is supposed to happen on 07/02. That gives the party three days to prepare. You can fill that time by completing requests for the townspeople, completing bounties, or working on the bonds of your followers.
Set Out for the Giant Sandworm’s Nest
When 07/02 rolls around, you’ll have time to stock up on items and upgrade your gear. When ready, return to the Gauntlet Runner and plot a course to the Giant Sandworm’s Nest. It will be a 2-day ride to reach our destination. Along the way, you’ll be attacked by another candidate. If you’d like to know more, check out Rank 2 of this bond guide.
Boss Fight – Greatworm Homo Butera
On 07/03, the group will emerge from the Gauntlet Runner to be attacked by the Greatworm Homo Butera, a Level 25 Human! It will attack using its sandstorm attack, which can drop the party’s hit and evasion but is weak to ice to make sure to use that for massive damage. Once you reduce its HP to zero, it will eat the party!
Escape the Gaint Sandworm’s Belly
The party must escape within 15 minutes or risk being digested in the giant sandworm’s belly. If you’d like more information on how to get through, please check out our Giant Sandworm’s Belly walkthrough. It has the layout of each map and the items you can find while there. The game makes it clear that once you level the Giant Sandworm’s Belly, you cannot return.
Giant Sandworm’s Nest
Finally, it’s time to track down Heismay at the Giant Sandworm’s Nest. The area follows a linear path leading straight to the boss fight. For more information, please check out our Giant Sandworm’s Nest walkthrough. Once the events at the nest have concluded, the party will return to Martira.
Martira
Back in town, you’ll be able to rest at the tavern. On the next day, the story ramps up. You’ll regain control of the party after night falls on Cattleracket Road. Follow the path west to reach Blind Well Alley. Once there, speak with everyone and save before descending down the well to the Rotting Waterway. After a brief stint there, you’ll return to the town with the children in town. This will increase your Popularity Rank.
To progress in this quest, you must complete the Apprehend the Real Kidnapper quest, which involves working our way through Kriegante Castle and putting a stop to whatever shady business is happening there.
For completing this quest, you’ll be rewarded with four points in the Courage Royal Attribute. Following the events of the Kriegante Castle, the party decides to donate the reward for the bounty to the people of Martira.
