Welcome to NGB and our Metaphor ReFantazio guide on the Skullduggery quest. This guide will cover how you can efficiently complete the Skullduggery quest.
Skullduggery Quick links
How to Start the Skullduggery Quest
To start this quest, you must progress far enough in the game until you reach Martiar. Once you’ve done that, travel back to the Catacombs Entrance at the royal capital and speak with the Nervous Guard there. He’ll mention that he’s been tasked with collecting 8 Mortaskulls inside the mausoleum. He also mentions that it’s a death sentence, but by not collecting him, they’ll have him executed. We’ll agree to help him out. Also, make sure to grab the A Haunted Heirloom quest before heading in so that you can knock out two quests at once. You’ll have until 7/30 to complete this quest before the Mausoleum entrance is blocked off.
This quest didn’t show up for us until we completed the New King of the Imps quest.

Collect 8 Mortaskulls
To find the mortaskulls, you’ll need to enter the Mausoleum Catacombs, seeking the Soldier Malmorta enemies. Defeating them in battle will cause a skull to drop, and the number of skulls you receive is proportional to how many skeletons you fight in a battle. This means that if you fight and defeat 3 of the Soldier Malmorta, you’ll get three skulls afterward.
You’ll want to head to the north-central area of the 2nd floor (the one you start on) to find them. They tend to spawn pretty close together, so you should be able to get all 8 skulls from there or four battles.
Deliver the Mortaskulls
You can turn this quest in before returning to the base at the end of the day.
Once you’ve managed to collect 8 Mortaskulls, return to the Nervous Solider at the Catacombs Entrance and speak with him to hand them over. He’ll give you his thanks for saving his life and let you know why he had to collect the skulls. This will also complete the quest.
Rewards
For completing the Skullduggery quest, you’ll be rewarded with 3,000 reeve and a Brigandine.
