A Dagger, a Ring, and A Rake Quick Links
How to Start A Dagger, a Ring, and A Rake
To start the A Dagger, a Ring, and A Rake quest, progress in the game until you reach Martira. Once there, approach the guy sitting on a trunk near the fountain to trigger an event where Grius’s Dagger will be stolen. The Pompous Man on the crate will see it happen but refuses to tell you what he knows. To convince him to spill the beans, you must have your Imagination Royal Attribute at Rank 2. After meeting that condition, he’ll offer you a deal. Retrieve a ring from the Abaonded Tomb for him, and he’ll get you Grius’s Dagger.

Gather Intel
To learn more about the Abandoned Tomb, travel to Visca Alba Tavern in Martira and speak with the Informed Man there. You want to purchase the “Prize of the Abandoned Tomb” intel. From it, you’ll learn that there are treasure monsters that look like chests and can put you to sleep. If you’re worried about that, you can buy an accessory from Gloamhall in Grand Trad to prevent it. It’s also drawn to money, so bringing the Merchant Archetype or inheriting its Gold Attack skill might be useful.
To the Abandoned Tomb
To reach the Abandoned Tomb, you will need to return to the Gauntlet Runner and use the Round Table to plot a course there. It can be found on the world map south of Martira, taking you 2 days to reach it.
Fend off Goddard
On the way to the Abandoned Ruins, another candidate, Goddard, will attack you. He’ll be Level 25, wielding a lance, and likes to spam Mage Tempest to deal wind damage to the whole party. Occasionally, he will also debuff the party, reducing their hit and evasion. Hit him with electric spells to deal extra damage, as it’s his weakness. After defeating him, you’ll get a boost to your Popularity Rank.

The item we seek can be found just past the tomb’s entrance. If you head north down the hallway and take the first right, you’ll come to a weird door. Just beyond that door is the chest with the ring. In order to open that door, you’ll want to head up to the third floor and find a giant chest just past the Plateau MIrage that is clearly a trap. Before you engage this enemy, make sure you have multiple characters with light attacks. When ready, interact with the chest to start the battle against the Trove Imitec!
Trove Imitec Battle
As stated above, the mimic’s weakness is light, so you’ll want to utilize that to deal extra damage. It will try to put the party to sleep and then attack them for massive damage. It also likes to use medium-strength physical attacks to damage the party. Once it’s defeated, you’ll receive a strange key needed to open the weird door.
Collect the Ring
Head back down to the third floor and use the key to open the door near the entrance. You’ll then be free to loot the chest to receive Malveno’s Ring.
Deliver the Ring
Return to Martira, then speak with Cuculus the next day to hand over the ring. He’ll then ask if you’re ready to retrieve the dagger. Selecting yes will trigger an event that will take up your afternoon action. This will also complete the quest.
Reward
After completing this quest, you’ll receive 15,000 reeve, 4 points for your Courage Royal Attribute, and Grius’s Momento. Your Popularity Rank will also increase a bit, and you’ll unlock the Faker Archetype.
