Welcome to NGB and our Metaphor ReFantazio guide on the A Bullish Embargo quest. In this guide, we’ll cover everything you need to know to easily compete the A Bullish Embargo quest.

How to Start the A Bullish Embargo Side Quest

Travel to Sunlumeo Street outside the Lycaon Magic Association to find Igniter Merchantess. Speak with her, then select the “At least describe the job” option. You must level up your Wisdom Royal Virtue to Rank 2 to be able to accept her quest. You can rank up your wisdom by completing the Help the Hushed Honeybee quest and spending an afternoon doing the View of the Royal Capital activity.

Gather Some Intel

Before traveling to the Belega Corridor, head outside the Hushed Honeybee Inn on Sunshade Row and speak with the Knowledgeable Man leaning against the wall there. If he’s not there, then check inside of the Hushed Honeybee. You can then purchase the intel on the Ox Demon of Belega Corridor for 250 reeve, but it’s not required. The info will basically say that you should not use a Mage or Healer Archetype at the Belega Corridor because it causes the goblins there to go berserk. It also mentions that the Guptauros is weak to pierce attacks. It also notes that the monsters there are much stronger in the Belega Corridor than the ones in the Grand Cathedral.

Stock Up on Provisions

Now would be a good time to stock up on items and equipment before tackling the Belega Corridor. The enemies you’re about to face range from 3 to 16 with the Guptauros being level 22. We recommend you pick up at least 5 (if you can swing it) Stunning Arrows from Comfort Concoctions. They cost 220 reeve each but have a chance to inflict Paralysis on an enemy. This will come in handy when facing the Guptauros. Also, note that traveling to Belega Corridor means you won’t be able to do anything at night as the party will need that time to rest up.

Belega Corridor

When you’re ready, travel to the Belega Corridor. You can do this either by traveling through the southern gate on Sunlumeo Street or speaking with Brigitta, who will call her coach for you. Once you arrive, you’ll start on the first floor of four with the goal of heading down to the 4th floor to reach the Guptarous. Standing between you and your target is a ton of goborns with a pinch of other enemies thrown in. The goborns here are the real threat. Most of them are level 16, have no weakness and deal a lot of damage. You’ll want to make sure that you don’t bring a Mage or Healer Archetype, as either one of them will cause the goborns to go berzerk, dealing insane amounts of damage to the party. The Hexer Goborn is also capable of using magic, such as lightning and fire skills. The two subsections below will show the layout of each floor, including chests and a chart of the enemies and what they are weak to. Pay special attention to Floor 3 as some chests appear hard to reach, so those will be covered there.

A fellow adventurer standing near the entrance on the 2nd floor will give you 3 Stunning Arrows if you speak with him.

Floor 3

On the 3rd floor, there are several sections of chests that you’ll see gated off. To get into these rooms, you’ll want to search for a small hole in the wall that you can crawl through. If you look at the map above, you can spot where they are. The southern pair of chests is accessible from the path that leads least to the Guptauros near the end of the dungeon. Also, make sure to grab the Gold Beetle that is near the pair of chests in the center of the map.

Slay the Guptauros

When you finally reach the 4th floor, you’ll have a chance to save just before the Guptauros. Enter its room when you’re ready to face this mighty beast. A couple of things to know before beginning. It is level 22 and has 2 weaknesses: pierce attacks and ice magic. The best way to approach this fight is by bringing two Knight Archetypes and the Warrior or the Brawler (if you’ve completed the A Friend in Need side quest) Archetype. The knights will be used for their Synthesis skill Jump Thrust to take advantage of the Guptauros’ weakness to pierce while the Warrior or Brawler will play support. The warrior is required to use Jump Thurst for the knight. You’ll also want the warrior to have inherited Medi from the Healer Archetype for the ability to heal all allies. If you don’t have that, you can go with Dei from the Seeker Archetype or Blizz from the Mage. During the fight, you’ll want to have the last person act. Use the Stunning Arrow to try to paralyze the Guptauros so that it can’t attack. There is a chance of this not working, so make sure you’re prepared for that.

The big guy attacks using his brute force. He gets two actions per turn and has a normal attack that targets a single party member. He also will buff himself and then follow that up with an attack that will hit the whole party or a strong attack that deals massive damage to a single party member. Depending on your level, this fight will be tough, so it may take a couple of attempts. Once it goes down, you’ll be free to return to the city, where the group will automatically head to a tavern or inn to rest.

Turning in the Quest

You can turn in the quest the following afternoon by returning to Brigitta and speaking with her. Doing this will cause time to progress to night, so make sure you take care of anything else you want to do beforehand. Once you’re done talking with her, the quest will be completed.

Quest Rewards

For completing the A Bullish Embargo side quest, you’ll be rewarded with a Pious Igniter, a four point increase to the Courage Royal Virute, and 7,500 reeves. In addition, a bond will be formed with Brigitta, unlocking the Merchant Archetype.
