How to Start the Master of Wealth: Ch. 1 The Covetous Witch Quest
You’ll automatically begin the Master of Wealth: Ch. 1 The Covetous Witch in Octopath Traveler 0 after completing the Prologue.
Master of Wealth: Ch. 1 The Covetous Witch Walkthrough
The wealthiest person in all the realm, Lady Herminia, is notorious to all as the “Covetous Witch”. Possessing wealth greater than many nations, there is nothing in this world her fortune cannot buy.
Gather information about Herminia
Travel to Valore in the Woodlands region. You can reach it by taking the following route from Wishvale:
- Wishvale Trail
- West Emberglow Wilds
- Valore Trail
Once you arrive in Valore, speak with the Fierce-Looking Man wearing green in front of the tavern with a green dialogue bubble above his head.
This will kick off a cutscene where you’ll learn some info about Lady Herminia. After it concludes, head east through Valore to reach the Main Boulevard. Approach the center of the courtyard to trigger another cutscene where you’ll meet Bargello and his comrades.
While speaking with them, you’ll end up in the midst of a fight against a group of goons.
Mini-Boss: Burly Blackrobe and Blackrobes
If you bring someone with the Steal ability, you can steal a Fortifying Nut from the Burly Blackrobe.
For this fight, you’ll be facing a Burly Blackrobe and two Blackrobes. You can find how many shields they have and their weaknesses in the table below:

Following the battle, another cutscene will kick off with Bargello and his gang. Your efforts in the battle have proven your intentions, so they will officially invite you to join their cause.
Head to Herminia’s Manse
Now that we’ve joined up with Bargello’s group, make your way to Herminia’s Manse. You get there by traveling through the Path to Herminia’s Manse, south of Valore: Main Boulevard. When you arrive at Herminia’s Manse, head to the mansion in the northeastern corner of the area and approach your new friends to kick off a cutscene.

Crash the Party
Following the cutscene, enter the mansion to trigger another where the gang arrives at the party in time for the main event. This will trigger a lengthy cutscene that reveals quite a bit about the lady of the house. When it concludes, leave the mansion to regroup with the gang outside. Head around to the west side of the house to start a boss fight!
Boss Fight: Captain Tristan
If you have someone with the Steal ability, you can steal Old Armor from Captain Tristan.
For this fight, you’ll be facing Captain Tristan, accompanied by a pair of Mercenaries, while Bargello assists you. You’ll find their vulnerabilities, how many shields they have, and what attacks they’ll use listed below:

Tips
- Focus on taking out the mercenaries first
Go to Taviani’s Hideout
Once you’ve defeated Captain Tristan, another cutscene will trigger. When it ends, travel to Taviani’s Hideout in the southeastern corner of Valore. This will lead to one last cutscene that will close out the chapter!
