How to Start the Master of Fame: Ch. 1 The Genius Playwright Quest
You’ll automatically begin the Master of Fame: Ch. 1 The Genius Playwright in Octopath Traveler 0 after completing the Prologue.
Master of Fame: Ch. 1 The Genius Playwright Walkthrough
In Theatropolis, city of the arts, lives Auguste, the most famous playwright in all the realm. His works are praised and loved by all. They are said to even change the hearts of his adoring fans.
Gather information about Auguste
Travel to Theatropolis, found in the southern part of the Flatlands Region. You can reach it by taking the following route from Wishvale:
- Wishvale Trail
- North Theatropolis Plains
- Theatropolis Plains
Once you’ve arrived, head to the northern part of the town and enter the Amphitheatre: Entrance area. From there, head into the Amphitheatre on the second level. Now that you’re inside, approach the stage to get prompted to begin the quest. Select the “Yes” option to kick off a cutscene.
Search for Auguste

After the cutscene ends, chase after Auguste, head west through the Amphitheatre: Entrance, passing the Amphitheatre, and entering the Rehearsal Room. Inside, head west down the hallway to trigger another cutscene where you’ll meet Schwartz.
The two of you will then spy on one of Auguste’s rehearsals.
When the cutscene ends, make your way down to the rehearsal area and head through the door on the right side of the stage.
This will bring you into the Dressing Room where you’ll meet Francesca, the Actress. She’ll give you some more info about Auguste before making her exit. You’ll then get to see what Auguste is up to.
Continue heading through the Dressing Room to reach Auguste’s room in the back on the north side. Head through the door on the back, left side of the room, and take the stairs up. You’ll find a save point there, along with Schwartz standing near a desk. Make sure to save before approaching him. Doing so will trigger a cutscene that ends with a boss fight!
Boss Fight: Rearguard and Vanguard Aides
In this boss fight, you’ll be facing the Aide (Rearguard) and Aide (Vanguard) with Schawrtz assisting you as a support character. Below are both Aides’ vulnerabilities, along with the skills they use.
If you bring a party member with the Steal ability, you can steal a Stone Rod from the Aide (Vanguard) during this encounter.

Once the fight ends, another cutscene will trigger, leading to the completion of the quest! You’ll get an increase in your Fame Rank as a result.
