How to Start the Kindlers of the Flame Ch. 5 Quest
The Kindlers of the Flame Ch. 5 quest in Octopath Traveler 0 will automatically begin after completing Kindlers of the Flame: Ch. 4 The Cleric Laurana quest.
Kindlers of the Flame Ch. 5 Walkthrough
When Laurana disappeared, she left behind a letter in which she wrote, “I was the one who destroyed Wishvale.” You return to a familiar place to uncover the truth behind her words.
Examine Laurana’s letter
To officially accept the quest, interact with the letter.
Search for clues
Next, head to the entrance of town to trigger a cutscene with Margot.
Speak to Nomos on Wishvail Trail
After the cutscene, exit the town and make your way to Nomos’ house behind the waterfall to the northeast. Nomos will then tell you where to find the azure flamestone.
Head to the Cerulean Caverns
Exit the house then head south down the trail. At the fork, head east to reach Cerulean Caverns.
Chase after Laurana
In the Cerulean Caverns, make your way to the northern part where you’ll reach the Path to the Flamebearer’s shrine. Make your way through this area to trigger a cutscene just past the save point.
During this cutscene, you’ll fight the Emerald Direwolf with just Laurana as he tries to get her to reveal the truth of what she desires. Thankfully, we’ll show up just in the nick of time!
Boss Fight: Emerald Direwolf
For this fight, you will face the Emerald Direwolf again.
If you have someone in your party with the Steal ability, use it to claim the Maiming Bite Mastery from the Emerald Direwolf.

Boss Tips
- At the start of the fight, the boss will boost its evasion.
- At the start of a turn, the boss will always act first and deal multiple high-damage attacks.
- The boss will constantly boost its evasion throughout the entire fight.
After the fight, you’ll return to Wishvale.
Head to the town square
Next, head east of the item shop to the town square to find Laurana getting reamed by the residents.
Speak with Laurana
After the cutscene, speak to Laurana in the town square to hand over the stone. When the cutscene concludes, so will the quest! You’ll gain Laurana as a new companion.
Laurana is a cleric versed in the arts of regenerative healing and resurrection. She uses the staff and fan as weapons. Her battle skills consist of the following:
- Healing Light – Restore HP of an ally
- Brain Bash – Select a weapon and unleash an attack on a foe
