How to begin the Kindlers of the Flame – Ch. 1: The Hunter Phenn Quest
The Kindlers of the Flame – Ch. 1: The Hunter Phenn in Octopath Traveler 0 will automatically begin after completing the Rekindling the Flame Pt. 1 quest.
Kindlers of the Flame – Ch. 1: The Hunter Phenn Walkthrough
After their hometown is destroyed, you and Stia are determined to restore it to its former glory. Meanwhile, far away in the blistering snow, a troubled hunter questions his way of life.
Speak to Stia in Wishvale
Enter the workshop in Wishvale to find Stia and speak with her to officially begin the quest.
Search for Phenn in the Frostlands
To reach Phenn in the Snowshard Grotto, you’ll need to travel through the following areas:
- Wishvale Trail
- West Emberglow Wilds
- Snowshard Grotto
When you arrive in the Snowshard Grotto, approach Phenn to reunite.
Head deep inside the Snowshard Grotto
After your brief reunion, Phenn will leave. You and Stia will exit the grotto, but a villager will warn them that Phenn is in danger. Reenter the grotto to witness Phenn’s flashback of Wishvale.
After you regain control, travel to the northeastern corner to find Phenn facing off against three Spiked Skinks.

Help Phenn take out these creatures! Afterwards, more will show up, but Phenn will just take them out all by himself.
Invite Phenn
Next, use the inquire path action then invite him to become a resident of Wishvale.
Meet Phenn in Wishvale
Fast travel back to Wishvale and approach the graves east of the entrance to trigger memories of the townsfolk. After the lengthy cutscene the quest will complete and you’ll gain Phenn as a companion!
