The Man Behind the Moons side quest in Hogwarts Legacy becomes available after completing the Caretaker’s Lunar Lament main quest during which Gladwin Moon will ask you to find the Demiguise Statues scattered around Hogwarts, Hogsmeade and the surrounding areas. By collecting enough of the statues, Gladwin will teach you how to cast higher tiers of the Alohomora spell. Bring him 9 moons to unlock Level II then an additional 13 moons to unlock Level III. There are 10 statues in Hogwarts, 9 in Hogsmeade and 11 in the surrounding areas.
This guide will show you the locations of each Demiguise Statue needed to unlock Level II and Level III of the Alohomora spell. Also, note that you’ll start out with 1 moon after completing the Caretaker’s Lunar Lament main quest. If you wish to know where every statue can be found, check out our area completion guides here. After bringing Gladwin 22 Moons, he’ll say that he is no closer to knowing who the culprit is and will ask you to continue finding the statues while waiting for word from him. After some time passes, you’ll receive an owl post from Piers Pemberton in Hogsmeade. Make your way there to find him near the South Hogsmeade Floo Flame. Speak with Piers to learn more about the statues then take what you’ve learned back to Mr. Moon. This will complete the quest.
Hogwarts
The Astronomy Wing
1. Professor Fig’s Classroom
The Demiguise can be found in Professor Fig’s office at the back of his classroom on a table next to the fireplace.
2. Defense Against the Dark Arts Tower
This statue can be found on a desk past a locked door on the first level of the Defense Against the Dark Arts Tower. To reach it, travel to the Transfiguration Courtyard Floo Flame then head through the door next to the flame. Look to the right of the stairs to see a door between two statues. Use Alohomora Level 2 to unlock the door then head inside.
3. Muggle Studies
This statue can be found behind a locked door on a desk in the dungeons. To reach it, travel to the Bell Tower Courtyard Floo Flame then head up the southwestern set of stairs going through the door straight ahead. Take the stairs in the stairwell down heading through the door on the right. Continue heading down a few flights of stairs coming to a statue of a dragon. Follow the hallway across from the dragon looking for the first door on the left. Unlock the door using Alohomora then head inside and take a right.
The Bell Tower Wing
1. Hogwarts Grounds
The Demiguise Statue can be found in a small room behind a locked door on the grounds. To reach it, travel to the Hogwarts North Exit Floo Flame then head back onto the school grounds to the fountain. Look north from the fountain to find a doorway on the side of some stairs leading up to the ramparts. Use Alohomora to unlock the door then head inside looking to the right.
2. Beasts Classroom
This Demiguise Statue can be found on a table in the hut where the Beasts Class takes place. Travel to the Beasts Classroom Floo Flame then unlock the door to the hut using Alohomora Level 2. Head inside then go through the doorway on the right to find the statue straight ahead.
The Great Hall
1. Great Hall Locked Door
This Demiguise Statue can be found in a locked room to the west of the faculty table in the Great Hall.
The Library Annex
1. Divination Class
The statue can be found on the professor’s desk in the Divination Classroom.
2. Library (Restricted Section)
The Demiguise Statue can be found on a desk in the restricted section of the library past an eyeball chest.
3. Long Gallery
This statue can be found in a room along the Long Gallery down the stairs near the Potions Classroom. To reach it, travel to the Potions Classroom in the Library Annex then head through the doors on the southeastern side of the hall. Take a left and go down the stairs (past the Potions Classroom) heading through the doorway at the bottom. Follow along the long hallway and look for the first door on the left. Unlock it using Alohomora Level 2 and enter the room.
The South Wing
1. Locked Bathroom
This statue can be found in the middle stall of a locked bathroom. To reach it, travel to the Clock Tower Courtyard Floo Flame in the South Wing then head through the door next to the flame. Walk across the bridge and through the door at the end. Go down the stairs and take a left following the hallway. Look for the locked door on the left with the post and ropes in front of it. Use Alohomora Level I to unlock the door and enter the bathroom.
Hogsmeade
1. Tombs and Scrolls
This statue can be found on a dresser in Thomas Brown’s room. To reach it, enter Tombs and Scrolls then head past Thomas Brown into his room.
2. Hog’s Head Alley House
This statue can be found on a dresser in a bedroom on the upper floor of a house. To reach it, start at Tombs and Scrolls then follow along the street going northeast. Take a left into the first alley leading to Hog’s Head. You’ll then want to use Alohomora Level II on the second house on the left. Head inside and up the stairs on the right.
3. Hog’s Head
This statue can be found in the back room of the Hog’s Head on a stack of crates.
4. House (Next to J. Pippin’s Potions)
This Demiguise Statue can be found in a house on a dresser. To reach it, travel to the entrance of J. Pippin’s Potions then head to the house on the right (north) of the building. Use Alohomora Level 2 on the door to enter the house. Take the stairs up to the second level to find the statue.
5. The Three Broomsticks
This statue can be found on a coffee table in front of a fireplace in the upper room of the Three Broomsticks. To reach it, enter the building and take the stairs all the way to the top. You’ll need to use Alohomora to unlock the door allowing you to enter the room.
6. House (East of Three Broomsticks)
This statue can be found sitting on a makeshift table in a house. To reach it, travel to the house east of the Three Broomsticks across from Bingle & Batch. Use Alohmora to unlock the door then head inside. Take the stairs up to find the statue.
7. Gladrag’s Wizardwear
This statue can be found on a counter next to an anvil in the shop.
8. House on River’s Edge
This statue can be found on the mantle above a fireplace in a building. To reach it, head for the house east of Brood and Peck on the edge of a lake. Use Alohomora to unlock the door and head inside to spot the statue.
9. House (East of Honeydukes)
This statue can be found on a table under a portrait in a house. To reach it, head to the house on the outskirts of Hogsmeade east of Honeydukes. Use Alohomora on the door to unlock it then head inside. The table with the statue will be on the right.
World
South Hogwarts Region
1. Lower Hogsfield
This statue can be found at one of the houses in the town of Hogsfield. To reach it, travel to the Lower Hogsfield Floo Flame then head through the gate and enter the first house on the right. It will be on the ground next to the door.
2. Aranshire
This statue can be found at one of the houses in the town of Aranshire. To collect it, travel to the Aranshire Floo Flame. While facing the flame, head to the house on the right (north) and use Alohomora Level I to unlock the door. Enter the home heading up the stairs to the second level. The statue will be on the ground at the foot of the bed.
