How to Start the Fires in the Mine Quest
To begin the Fires in the Mine side quest in Avowed, speak with and Aedyran Soldier at Eagle’s Reach in Shattercarp.
Fires in the Mine Walkthrough
Thirdborn and Aedyr are collaborating to reopen an abandoned sulfur mine in the Deadfall Highlands. Their efforts, however, have been stymied by a brood of spiders.
Travel to the Mine Encampment
To reach the Sulfur Mines Basecamp, follow the path between the Abandoned Mine and Ancient Lakebed north. This will lead you to the mountains, where you’ll be able to cross the bridge.
Speak with the Mining Officials
Speak with Seyon and Kada to learn about the situation.
Speak to the Gate Guard to Gain Entry
Head to the north side of the base camp and speak with the guard to gain access to the mine.
Destroy the Nests
Enter the Sulfur Mines and work your way through the area until you stumble across a nest.
After taking out the spiders there, burn the giant egg sacks. Afterward, follow the mine cart track east. From there, climb up the scaffolding and follow it around.
At the next nest, wipe out the enemies then burn the giant egg sacks!
Return to the Mining Camp
Upon leaving the mine, you’ll be stopped by Darle. He’ll tell you that it’s only a matter of time before the sulfur mine is used for things other than the current crisis and that he intends to destroy the mines. You’ll then have to choose whether you’ll allow him to proceed or put a stop to his plans.
If you choose to stop his plans, you’ll have to fight and defeat the guard. Once he’s been stopped, exit the cave and return to mining officials. Speak with them and be truthful about what just happened in the mines. They will be pleased with the outcome of completing the quest. You’ll receive 900 gold as a reward, and the quest will be completed.
If you allow Darle to destroy the mines, they will blow as soon as you exit. You’ll then need to tell the mining officials about what happened. This will anger Kada, who will then kick everyone out, completing the quest.
