How to Start the Fiddling with Fulgurating Fulminations Quest
To begin the Fiddling with Fulgurating Fulminations side quest in The Outer Worlds 2, you’ll need to find one of the five lightning rod towers in Praetor that need to be recalibrated. The locations of these towers are listed below! Once you find a tower, interact with the terminal inside to obtain this quest.
You can also receive the quest by speaking with Exemplar Simon in the tower at the Grounding Station. He’ll request that you recalibrate the five towers in exchange for some electric grenades.

Recalibrate the Lightning Rod Towers
Lightning Tower – Northeast
This tower can be found in the northeastern part of Praetor.
Read the note on the Northeast Grounding Tower Panel to learn that you’ll need to find a Grounding Tower Replacement Part.
Tossball Card: Susan DeVenero – Inside this building, make sure to loot the tossball card from the console to the left of the terminal!
To find the Grounding Tower Replacement Part, travel to the enemy camp northeast of the Lightning Tower – Northeast. Once there, clear out the enemies and pick up the missing part found on top of a metal container near a campfire and scaffolding.
Tossball Card: Rob Donovan – This card can be found inside a metal minecart in this enemy camp.
High Security Lockbox: The Bullet Blender – Also in this camp, you’ll find this lockbox by the workbench.
Once you have the missing part, return to the lightning tower and place it in the Northeast Grounding Tower Panel. Next, interact with the terminal to recalibrate the tower.
Lightning Tower – Southeast
This lightning tower can be found at the end of a winding path southeast of the Grounding Station. To reach it, we went through a cave filled with Raptidons, which you’ll need to clear for the Cave Cleanup task, then ascended the mountain, clearing the Mantiwasps as you go.
Once you reach the lightning tower, swarms of Mantiwasps will attack. We hid in the building and had them bottlenecked at the doorway, making it easy to clear them out.
Inside the building, interact with the terminal and simply press the button to recalibrate the station.
Lightning Tower – Central
This lightning tower can be found south of the Automech Production Facility, nestled against a mountain.
If you have Lockpick 2 and a Mag-Pick, simply open the front door. If not, head up the rock ledges on the right side of the building to reach the roof, where you’ll find a ladder that you can use to drop down into the building.
Once inside, interact with the terminal to recalibrate it!
Lightning Tower – Southwest
This tower can be found on the western edge of Praeter, just southwest of the Interstitial Reconfiguration Center, next to two rifts. To get inside, you will need to enter via the roof. Climb onto the rock formation to the southeast of the tower. From there, jump across to the rock formation the tower is nestled against.
Once inside, interact with the terminal to recalibrate it.
Lightning Tower – Northwest
Jump across the broken bridge to the southwest of Central Control to find this tower. Head inside and interact with the terminal to recalibrate the tower.
After recalibrating all of the grounding stations on Praetor, you’ll receive the Praetor Towers Powered trophy!
Return to the Grounding Station
After recalibrating all of the towers, travel to the Grounding Station – Tower at the Grounding Station, which is south of The Landing Pad. Once there, speak with Exemplar Simon. As a reward for completing his task, you will receive Storm Grenades and the recipe for how to make them. Afterwards, the quest will complete.
