How to Start EX Royal Guard Rumors
To begin the EX Royal Guard Rumors quest in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, head to the Riverside Stable, which can be found on the southeastern side of Hyrule Field. Inside, examine the book on the table, Super Rumor Mill EX: Volume 4.
According to this special issue, Hyrule Castle still houses a uniform once belonging to the royal guards who protected the royal family. It can supposedly be found in treasure chests hidden near the dining hall, in the guards’ chamber, and on the second floor.
EX Royal Guard Rumors Walkthrough
Guards’ Chamber – Royal Guard Boots
From the main entrance of Hyrule Castle, follow the road as it curves left, passing by a Rusted Guardian. Enter the castle through the doorway on your right.
Inside the long hallway, the gates will shut. Use Cryonis to lift the gate, then continue heading down the hallway until you spot a Lizalfos guarding the stairway.
When you enter the chamber, look to the right side of the room to find a wooden platform with a chest. Shoot the middle post holding up the platform to drop the chest. Next, open the chest to claim the Royal Guard Boots.
Dining Hall (but really library!) – Royal Guard Uniform
From the Guards’ Chamber, go back up the stairs, take a left, and cross the hall to enter the doorway on the right. This will bring you into another hall filled with malice. Head as far as you can through it, then look up to spot an eye just past a doorway. Shoot it to clear the malice and head through the doorway.
Take the next left, shooting another eye again to eliminate the Malice and proceed up the stairs.
At the top, turn left, avoiding the Guardian on your right. Continue along the path, run past the second Guardian, and enter the tunnel. When you emerge, you’ll see an entrance straight ahead and slightly to the left. Quickly go through this doorway to reach the Library.
In the Library, head left and go up the stairs, working your way around to reach the arched doorway at the very top of the Library. Once there, head through the archway and take a right. In the next room, take a left and go down the hallway.
At the very end of the hallway, you’ll spot some double doors that are cracked open. Slip through and quickly take a right, going up the stairs. To cross the broken part of the stairs, you’ll need to climb on the wall.
At the top, head straight down the hallway. At the very end on the left, you’ll spot a wall you can blow up. Do so to find the EX Chest containing the Royal Guard Uniform!
Second Floor – Royal Guard Cap
To find the Royal Guard Cap, you must make your way up to the very top of the castle. Above the throne room where you fight Ganon, you’ll find a room with a bunch of Malice. In here, you’ll find an EX Chest in front of a knight statue.
