Time Stranger Digimon Personality Guide
Time Stranger Digimon Personality Types
In Digimon Time Stranger, each Digimon has one of four primary Personality Types that affect how their stats grow:
- Valor: ATK increases easily (physical attacker)
- Amicability: DEF increases easily (supporter)
- Philanthropy: SPI increases easily (healer)
- Wisdom: INT increases easily (magic attacker)
A Digimon’s Personality Type is determined the moment you convert it. While the initial personality is random, certain Digimon tend to lean toward specific types. You can also change a Digimon’s personality by interacting with it — for example, by speaking with it regularly — allowing you to influence how each Digimon develops over time.
Personality Types affect more than just stat growth. They also determine factors like:
- Which stats grow more quickly as the Digimon levels up
- The Personality Skills your Digimon can learn
- How effective certain Strike Effects are in battle
For instance, an Agumon with the Amicability personality will gain more DEF per level than a Gabumon with Valor.
Personality Type Subtypes
In addition to the four main Personality Types, each one includes four subtypes that provide an additional stat boost alongside the main personality’s bonus.
The chart below outlines each Personality Type and its associated subtypes. Following the chart, you’ll also find each subtype listed individually with the specific stats it enhances.

Personality Skills
Personality Types don’t just affect a Digimon’s stats — they also determine which Personality Skill your Digimon can learn. Personality Skills are passive abilities that provide extra bonuses in battle. Each main Personality Type has two possible Personality Skills, and each subtype adds two more.
When you convert a Digimon, it will randomly learn one of four possible skills — either one of the two tied to its main personality or one of the two tied to its subtype.
If you change a Digimon’s personality, it can then learn a skill from the new personality set. For example, if your Digimon starts as Overprotective with the First in Line skill and you switch to Reckless, it will learn one of the following: Counter, Steadfast Might, Song of Triumph, or Warrior Wisdom.
You can also choose not to learn a new skill. Doing so allows your Digimon to retain a skill from a previous personality while still gaining the stat effects of its new type.
The image below displays each subtype and the potential Personality Skills your Digimon can learn upon changing to that personality. Under the image, you’ll also find a list of Personality Skills associated with each main Personality Type.

Amicability
- Cheer: At start of battle, boosts ATK and INT for all allies based on the total Bond of all battle members.
- Prankster: Boosts the probability rate of skill debuff effects.
Philanthropy
- Healing Wisdom: Reduces SP cost for recovery skills by 10%.
- SP Supplement: Also recovers 10% of target’s Max SP when using skills to recover an ally’s HP.
Valor
- Song of Triumph: Slightly boosts CP gained.
- Warrior Wisdom: Reduces SP cost for physical attack skills by 10%.
Wisdom
- Magical Wisdom: Reduces SP cost for magic attack skills by 10%.
- Secret Sage Art: Attacking deals magic damage.
Changing Personality Type
There are two main ways to change a Digimon’s Personality Type: by talking with them or through the DigiFarm.
Talking to Your Digimon to Change Personality Type
The simplest—but most time-consuming—method is to talk with your Digimon. After a few battles (typically around four), if you stand still and begin regenerating HP and SP, you may see a dialogue bubble appear above your Digimon’s head. This indicates that you can interact with them.
When you do, your Digimon will ask the Agent a question. Your response determines how their personality shifts. Sometimes, multiple response options will appear, each tied to a specific personality type (shown by a small symbol). Other times, you may get a response tied to only one of the four main Personality Types. In both cases, one option will always let you avoid changing their personality.
This approach allows you to gradually modify a Digimon’s personality while actively playing, though you won’t have much control over which choices appear.
Using the DigiFarm to Change Personality Type
The second method is through the DigiFarm, which gives you more control over the outcome but requires time or yen. To change personality this way, you’ll need to use one of several Training Sets crafted by Zudomon in either Central Town (8 Years Ago) or Rebellion Village (Present Day).
You’ll want Training Sets A or B, as the C versions only raise stats rather than alter personality.
Progressing through the story is necessary to unlock certain crafting materials for the Training Set Bs. For example, Punching Bag B requires a Snowman, which doesn’t unlock until much later in the story. However, you can still use the one already placed in the DigiFarm, found somewhere in the snow-covered area.
Below is a list of each Training Set and the personality attributes they influence:
- Sauna: Heart
- Boombox: Understanding
- Punching Bag: Heart and Affection
- Club: Heart and Companionship
- Classroom: Understanding and Companionship
- Tearoom: Understanding and Affection
- Treadmill: Heart and Compassion
If you look at the following image, you’ll see Affection, Heart, Companionship, and Understanding mapped to the north, east, south, and west sides of the chart. Using a Training Set moves a Digimon’s personality in one of those directions.

For instance, if your Digimon is Reckless and you want to make it Daring, use the Sauna Training Set to shift toward Heart, effectively moving the personality to the right.
If you want to change from Reckless to Astute, use the Classroom Training Set to move downward into the Wisdom quadrant. Keep in mind that movement isn’t always perfect—depending on your Digimon’s internal values, you might first shift to Sly or Strategic before reaching your goal. You can then switch to Boombox training to move left and fine-tune your result.
By combining these sets strategically, you can gradually guide any Digimon to the personality you want. If you can get into the same row as your target personality, the Sauna and Boombox Training Sets will help fine-tune the shift horizontally.
Additional Notes on Personality Training
- You can instantly complete training by spending 10,000 yen, trading money for convenience—but it can burn through your funds quickly.
- It can take several training sessions to reach your desired personality, depending on where you start.
- Training time ranges from about 30 to 90 minutes, based on the Training Set used (A or B) and the Digimon being trained.
- Agent Skills can reduce training time, though you’ll still need to wait.
