Follow the chamberlain (optional)

Talk to the stable hand

Head to the stables and speak with Hired Hand Kabat. If you wish, you can take Herring the horse.

Escort Sir Hans Capon to Nebakov

When you’re ready to go, speak with Hans, who is leaning against the wall near the stable. Next, hop on your horse and follow behind him. On the way, he’ll want to race. Agree!! After racing, continue riding with Hans.

Get to know Michael the adjutant (optional)

Follow behind Adjutant Michael as he leads you to a picnic table. Your conversation will turn into a duel against him. After you win, you’ll receive rowel spurs. He’ll also recommend that you speak with Klara.

Accompany Klara on a walk (optional)

You’ll find Klara just outside where you fight Michael near a trough. Let her heal you up, and agree to go on a walk with her. On your walk, you’ll tell her tales of the places you’ve been. When she stops, speak with her and she’ll request your help picking herbs. You’ll need to gather 8 marigold and 5 poppies.

Once you’ve acquired the herbs, return to Klara then follow her into the woods. The answer to her riddle is “I think she’s called Klara.”

Find out more about the Nebakov horses (optional)

On your way back from the woods, you’ll find yourself near the stable. A villager will speak with you about deadwood. Follow the suspicious man into the woods until he stops. He’ll give you a quick warning then run off.

Return to the stables and speak with Groom Peltzel. Agree to race then try and beat him.

Explore the fortress (optional)

Sneak to the second level of the fortress. Once inside, head straight ahead and go through the wooden door. Grab the keys from the table without being seen (the Rodent Stealth skill will greatly help) then exit to the outside.

Explore the fortress (optional)

You’ll want to go to the room directly under the room where you grabbed the keys. Guard Hertel will be guarding the door. Speak with him and pass the skill check telling him that Sir Jaromier is looking for him. Inside, speak with the prisoner. You’ll get the Old Raven trophy for finding the true lord of Nebakov.

Wait til Sir Hans’ meeting is over

Wait until about 19 for Hans to show up near the stables and speak with him to tell him the news.

Go with Capon to Lord von Bergow to announce your return

After telling the lord the news, agree to help!

If you are going for the Silence is Golden trophy, DO NOT say, “Young Semine left his own wedding.”!! Choose any other option!

Once the conversation finishes, the Back in the Saddle main quest will end and the Necessary Evil quest will begin.
