How to Start the An Encounter with Therion Quest
To begin the An Encounter with Therion quest in Octopath Traveler 0, speak with the man at the northern plaza with the king’s statue in Cragspear after completing the Master of All: Ch. 2 – General Mahrez quest.
An Encounter with Therion Walkthrough
In Cragspear, a necklace said to ward off pickpockets is all the rage, with many believing in its effects without a doubt. Perhaps it is worth a close look.
“Purchase” the Prince of Thieves necklace
First, use the Purchase Path Action to acquire the Prince of Thieves Necklace for 1,000 leaves (haggled price).
Head to the Gray Grotto
To reach the Gray Grotto, you’ll need to pass through the following areas from Cragspear:
Once in the Gray Grotto, a cutscene will trigger where Therion will mention that this is Dreige’s hideout. A boss fight will follow the cutscene!
Boss Fight: Dreige
For this fight, you will face Dreige and two Dreige’s Lackeys.
If you have someone with the Steal ability in your party, use it to steal Slippery Nut (M) from Dreige.

Speak to Therion
After the fight, return to Cragspear. Once there, enter the tavern and speak with Therion to invite him to join you. He’ll then become a companion and resident of Wishvale!
Therion is a thief who can hold his own in combat. He uses a sword and dagger as weapons and knows the following battle skills:
- Steal – Steal an item from a foe
- Wildfire – Unleash fire attack on a foe
The quest will end following the completion of the cutscene!
