The Tale of Rowland Oakes side quest in Hogwarts Legacy becomes available during the main quest to Prepare for Your Search for the Final Keeper main chapter after completing a few of the main quests. Travel to Transfiguration Courtyard in the Astronomy Wing to find Adelaide Oakes. Speak with her to learn that her uncle may be in danger. Agree to track him down then leave the school.
Make your way to the uncle’s campsite in the woods west of Hogsmeade past the river. Once there, deal with the goblins that occupy the camp then head to the canopy in the northwestern part of the camp. There will be a journal on the ground and a map on a crate you’ll need to collect.
Exit the camp following along the southern path. When you reach the river continue following the path to reach the first landmark, a rock formation.
Continue heading straight along the path, taking a right at the fork going that way to reach a crooked tree which is the second landmark.
From the tree, follow the path left heading west eventually passing a bridge and arriving at our fourth landmark, the crumbled tower.
Finally, head south following the path to reach a goblin outpost on Korrow Ruins.
Work your way through the outpost to find the entrance to the ruins then head inside. Defeat the enemies in the ruins as you make your way to Mr. Oakes’ cell then speak with him. Return to the main room and look at the door marked by the objective. Facing the door, head up the 2 flights of stairs to the left. Follow the walkway until you reach a fork. Take the left path, passing over a makeshift bridge. Head down the stairs and take a left to find the boiler. Use a fire spell on the boiler for the door to unlock.
Head inside and deal with the enemies there. Look for a side room to find the wand then return it to Mr. Oakes. This will complete the quest and you’ll receive the Handcrafted Necklace appearance.
