Bleak Beach Story Progression Guide

The Bleak Beach is a tropical region filled with sandy terrain and unique Pokémon encounters. As you progress through this part of the story, you’ll complete a series of objectives that push the narrative forward while unlocking new areas to explore. Below, you’ll find a step-by-step breakdown of the main story progression in Bleak Beach, including where to go next, what challenges to expect, and helpful tips for overcoming each section.

Bleak Beach Walkthrough

Scout Out the Area

  • Follow the main path to the brick platform overlooking the area
  • Head down to town in search of a Pokémon Center
  • Speak with Prof Tangrowth near the broken bridge
  • Use sand blocks or craft a couple of Square Tilings using the recipe near the workbench for the bridge
    • Requires: 2 Stones per 10 tiles
  • Fix the bridge with the Sand or Square Tiling
  • Make your way to the Pokémon Center and talk to Prof Tangrowth there
  • Interact with the PC
  • Cut off the water flow from behind the Pokémon Center
  • Check the PC one more time

Help Meowth Out

  • Speak with Meowth, then follow it back home (house behind the Pokémon Center)
  • Speak with the Mewoth again in the house
  • Stop the water from flowing into the house by repairing the hole in the wall

Find New Pokemon!

Spend Some Time Helping Meowth

  • Check in with Meowth about it being too dark
  • Complete the Brighter is Better! Request
    • Craft 2 Mushroom Lamps
      • Requires: Sturdy Sticks x2 and Glowing Mushrooms x2
    • Place the Mushroom Lamps in Mewoth’s shack
    • Speak with Meowth
  • Talk with Meowth again regarding all the mud
  • Complete the Clean up the Mud! Request
    • Build a Hydrated Yellow Tall Grass habitat to find a Piplup
    • Speak with Piplup about cleaning the mud
    • Have it follow you to the mud
    • Clean the mud with Water Gun after Piplup bubbles it
    • Speak with Meowth

Build Up the Town

  • Talk with Prof Tangrowth near the Pokémon Center
    • Build a house for some Pokémon to live in
    • Pick one of the houses near the town entrance
      • You should just have to put a couple of doors on it
    • Inform the Prof that the house is good to go
  • Speak with Meowth about adding more color to the shack
    • Build the Chirp-Chirp Meal habitat to recruit a Torchic
      • Requires: Wooden Birdhouse x1, Plated Food x1, and Table (any) x1
    • Speak with Torchic about the Planter
    • Bring Torchic some squishy clay to make bricks
    • Craft a planter with 1 Brick and 1 Stone
    • Tell Meowth that the Planter is done
    • Put the Planter in Mewoth’s shack
    • Put a flower in the Planter
      • Use the Rototiller ability for this
    • Speak with Meowth
  • Talk with Piplup about getting the shower working
    • Create a Trash Collection Site habitat to lure in a Trubbish
      • Requires: Waste Bin (any) x1, Grabage Bags x1, and Sign (any) x1
    • Speak with Trubbish about making some Iron Ore
      • Give it a nonburnable gargage you can find in the mud around town
    • Craft the Shower using 2 Iron Ore
    • Place the shower in the small building next to Mewoth’s shack
    • Tell Piplup that the shower is ready!
  • Speak with Trubbish about the streetlights
    • Build the Breezy Flower Bed habitat to lure in a Pawmi
    • Have Pawmi follow you back to the streetlight
  • Talk to Prof Tangrowth

Find the Cause of the Mysterious Noises

  • Check in with Trubbish about the noises it’s hearing
    • Head to the western side of the area, at the base of the lighthouse
    • Destroy the blocks on the side of the cliff
    • Interact with the Pokémon
  • Ask Prof Tangrowth about the sleeping Pokémon
    • Guide the group back to the sleeping Pokémon
    • Talk to the prof once you arrive

Brighten Things Up!

  • Speak with Meowth, who will suggest you light up more streetlights
    • Travel south of the Pokémon Center to find an electric box on a platform
    • Grab the Poke Ball there to get the Utility Pole recipe
    • Craft some poles, then connect them to the active water wheel and windmill
    • Use the poles to route the electricity through the town
      • Use the slotted concrete as a guide
    • Speak with Meowth after a couple of streetlights have been lit
  • Check on the sleeping Pokémon
  • Ask Torchic about how to make the town brighter
  • Tie in with Prof Tangrowth
    • Head to the island
    • Check on the injured Pokémon
  • Speak with Trubbish about exploring the lighthouse
    • Escort Trubbish to the top of the lighthouse
    • Restore power to the lights on the lighthouse
  • Talk with Peakychu about how to wake the Pokemon
    • Craft a Shell Lamp using your new recipe
      • Requires: Seashell x1 and Sea Glass Fragments x1
        • Both can be found by cleaning up the mud
    • Grab a Pokémon with the Generate Specialty
    • Return to the cave and place the Shell Lamp, using the Pokémon to light it
  • Speak with Peakychu about another way to light the city
    • Follow Peakychu to the windmill by the ocean
    • Speak with it there to learn about Utility Poles
    • Place a Utility Pole in the block near the dock by the windmill
  • Talk with Peakychu again near the windmill
    • Grab a Harbor Streetlight from around the town and place it right next to the Utility Pole
    • If you haven’t already, run the Utility Poles through town to power up everything
  • Speak with Torchic about its newest idea
    • Have Torchic follow you, then lead it to the Furnace west of the Windmill
    • Place some burnable materials like small logs into the Furnace and set it to burn
    • Connect the Fernace to the rest of the town via Utility Poles
  • Talk with Piplup about what it can do to help
    • Have Piplup follow you and lead it to the Waterwheel at the base of the Lighthouse
    • Connect the Waterwheel to the rest of the town via Utility Cables
  • Speak with Mareep about helping out with the electricity
    • Move Mareep next to a machine so that it can charge it up
      • Build the Overgrowth Vending Machine habitat near the sleeping Pokémon
  • Return to Peakychu in the cave
    • Follow Peakychu to the device
    • Speak with it once you arrive
    • Connect the device to the power grid using the Utility Pole
    • Talk with not-Pikachu to test out the device
    • Speak with it once more!
  • Return to the cave and interact with the Pokémon
  • Speak with the new Pokémon that has arrived!
  • Talk to the no-longer sleeping Pokémon
