Welcome to NGB and our walkthrough for the Face Your Fears main quest in Avowed. For this quest, you’ll need to investigate Ryngrim’s Domain and restore the broken statue to be teleported to Ryngrim. Our guide will walk you through how to start the quest, all the objectives, highlight the best strategies, and make sure you don’t miss any rewards.

How to Start the Face Your Fears Quest
The Face Your Fears main story quest in Avowed will automatically begin after completing the A Path to the Garden quest.
Face Your Fears Walkthrough
The archmage Ryngrim has arrived in Shatterscarp and created a magical barrier around the ruins of Naku Kubel, for reasons known only to her. In order to gain access to the ruins, you’ll need to speak with the archmage, who has taken up residence in the Shark’s Teeth region of Shatterscarp.
Talk to Yatzli
At the start of the quest, speak with Yatzli just west of the Loading Docks in Thirdborn. After the conversation, Yatzli will become your new companion!
Bring Yatzli to Ryngrim’s Domain
With Yatzli in tow, travel northeast of Shark’s Teeth in Shatterscarp to reach Ryngrim’s Domain. Once you arrive, approach the hole to trigger a cutscene. Afterwards, use Yatzli to dispel the illusion.
With the way clear, head inside!
Investigate Ryngrim’s Domain
Inside the frosty Ryngrim’s Domain, you will need to follow the linear path. Along the way, be sure to grab the Strangely-Marked Xaurip Spear from a corpse on the left side of the path next to a small house.
At the end of the snowy path, you’ll enter another hole to reach a cave. Inside this cave, the spirit of Ryngrim will greet you.
As you keep working your way forward, Ryngrim will appear and talk to you. Eventually, you’ll reach an outdoor area with a group of enemies.
Take them all out then interact with Ryngrim’s Statue.
Restore the Broken Statue
Obtain the Heart of the Statue
In search of the heart of the statue, make your way to the southeastern side of the area, where you’ll find some bramble blocking a hole in the wall. Blast it away, then slip on down the slippery slope.
At the bottom, you’ll land in some water and be attacked by a group of enemies. Clear them out then continue to make your way deeper into the frosty cave. Along the path, you’ll need to use Yatzli to dispel the illusion. Just past this, you will find an illusion of Ryngrim standing next to the Adra Heart. Pick it up from the altar!
Obtain the Head of the Statue
Facing the broken statue, turn left and head up the stairs along the cliff. Work your way through this area until you reach some large doors next to a stone face. Head through these doors to reach a villager who will beg you not to take the Statue Head. Do it anyway!
Obtain the Hand of the Statue
Facing the broken statue, head up the stairs to the right and burn the bramble. Inside, you’ll be attacked by enemies. Take them out then continue working your way through the cave. Eventually, you’ll reach the Statue Hand resting on a stone altar. Grab it!
With all the pieces of the statue in hand, return to the broken statue and place the broken pieces where they belong on the statue. Afterwards, touch the statue to be transported to a different place.
Find Ryngrim
Head forward and enter the doors to reach a large room. Here, you will need to defeat all of Ryngrim’s skeletons and spiders. Once clear, speak with Ryngrim.
Leave Ryngrim’s Tower
After your conversation with Ryngrim, it will be time to leave this cold, frosty place. Interact with the statue that was behind Ryngrim to leave. Once outside, the quest will complete.
