How to Start the Ancient Soil Quest
The Ancient Soil main story quest in Avowed will automatically begin after completing The Animancy Method quest.
Ancient Soil Walkthrough
Giatta wants to study the Dreamscourage at Naku Tedek, an old ruin west of Fior mes Iverno. The adra pillar will help her locate the unusual affliction.
Travel to Naku Tedek with Giatta
Before setting off for Naku Tedek, we suggest that you explore Waterfall Cave, which is on the western side of Fior mes Iverno to learn that the Steel Garrote are planning something. If you want to side against them, you will need to put a stop to it BEFORE progressing to Naku Tedek.
Once you progress through the Ancient Soil quest and leave Naku Tedek, Giatta will leave your party if the Steel Garrote carried out their attack on Fior mes Iverno AND she discovers that you knew about their plans.
When you are prepared, travel southwest of Fior mes Iverno to reach Naku Tedek.
Once you arrive, approach the device to trigger a cutscene.
Explore the Depths of Naku Tedek with Giatta
After the cutscene, a secret door will open! Head inside and work your way down to the bottom, using the tree roots and rock ledges. At the bottom, you’ll need to work your way through the dungeon, using electricity to flip the switches as needed. Make sure to explore the area, as you’ll find a bunch of materials and other goodies!
One of these goodies, the Giant’s Slumber unique weapon, can be found in the chest of a giant resting in the center of a large room. If you choose to pull out this weapon and claim it for yourself, you’ll be sealed inside the room and must defeat all the enemies that spawn in to leave.
Eventually, you’ll reach the giant crystal. Defeat the boss, then interact with the crystal.
Search for Survivors
After you leave Naku Tedek, travel to the Abandoned Farms, which is located north of Fior mes Iverno. When you arrive, speak with the governor outside. Once your conversation ends, so will the quest.
