How to Start the Bestower of Fame: Ch. 1 A New God Quest
The Bestower of Fame: Ch. 1 A New God quest in Octopath Traveler 0 will automatically begin after completing the Bestower of Fame: Prologue The Shadow Apostate quest. The recommended level for this quest is 38.
Bestower of Fame: Ch. 1 A New God Walkthrough
The mysterious organization known as the Black Scarlet has been assassinating church officials one after another. You join together with Flamesguard Sazantos to determine who is behind this dark plot.
Talk to Archbishop Josef
To officially begin this quest, travel to Flamesgrace then make your way to the cathedral and speak with the archbishop in front of the flame.
Head to the Cathedral of Tytos
Next, travel to Emberglow and make your way north to the Cathedral of Tytos: Entrance. You’ll notice that there are now residents available to use Path Actions on and more chests to loot. This area was previously called Ceremonial Square.
In the center of this area, you’ll encounter Rinyuu. Your reunion will quickly be cut short by citizens in need of help!

After the fight, approach the cathedral once more to trigger another cutscene. During the cutscene, agree to have supper with Rinyuu!
Head to the dining hall
In the Cathedral of Tytos, head to the room on the western side of the first floor.
“Inquire” about important information
Use the Inquire Path Action on the following people to gain important information:
- First Level
- Senior Nun – Confessional Information
- Father Taigan – Missing Person’s Information
- Second Level
- Disquiet Scarlet Wing – Documentation of Tytos’s Crimes
While you’re here, you can now use Path Actions on the other people in the Cathedral of Tytos.
Report to Rondo of the Knights Ardante
Once you’ve acquired the info, speak with Rondo on the first floor of the Cathedral of Tytos.
Interrogate Bishop Tarset
Next, use the Inquire Path Action on Bishop Tarset near the flame to learn Tarset’s Information. Back out then use the Contend Path Action on him to acquire Tarset’s Secret. He has a danger level of 38. The fight will start with three Scarlet Wings.

Head to the confessional
After speaking with Bishop Tarset, head to the western side of the first level. Father Taigan will speak with you. After continuing on ahead, you’ll find yourself on the lower level of the Cathedral of Tytos. Interact with the sole door to discover that it’s locked.
Head to Emberglow Cathedral
Enter the church on the northwestern side of Emberglow and speak with Rinyuu inside.
Search the confessional
With Rinyuu in tow, return to the confessional on the lower level of the Cathedral of Tytos.
Search for Miza
After discovering the hidden door, head on through and follow the path to enter the Cathedral of Tytos: Underground. From there, head through this area to reach the Emberglow Laboratory: Inner Chambers. In this area, head south to encounter Father Monaris, triggering a fight.

After the fight, you’ll acquire the Manuscript Page. Once you gain control, follow Father Monaris east.
Boss Fight: Monaris the Monstrous
When the fight starts, the boss will start a countdown that will trigger a skill when the count reaches 0. Attempt to break its shield to stop the countdown. If you can’t, the skill will inflict weakness on the front row and silence them. About halfway through the fight, the boss’s shield will increase to 30!

Elite Enemies are powerful foes that lurk within dungeons. The icon’s color represents the enemy’s strength.
- Blue = Weak
- Yellow = Moderate
- Red = Strong
Defeat them to obtain valuable items that can be used to improve Wishvale’s facilities. Make sure to be fully prepared before taking them on!
