How to Start the A Study In Disruption Faction Quest
To begin the A Study In Disruption quest in The Outer Worlds 2, speak with Artificer Laureate Enola Kraft on the balcony of the main building at Cloister’s Laplace’s Garden. She’ll request that the commander clear out the cultists that are currently controlling the town of Newton.

Clear Out the Cultists
To reach Newton, travel to the Newton – South fast travel point then follow the road north. As you approach Newton, a Dawn Acolyte will call out if you completed Aza’s Stabbing at Shadows faction quest and the An Instrument to Unfold Space & Time main quest. Otherwise, the entire town will be hostile towards you!
When speaking with their leader, you must have Speech 17 to avoid a fight. If you are able to do so, follow after the guy to the rift. Once you interact with it, they will leave peacefully.
If you cannot talk your way out of it, you will fight everyone in the town.
Return to Laureate Kraft
Once all the cultists have been cleared out, return to Artificer Laureate Enola Kraft in Laplace’s Garden. As a reward for completing her task, you will receive the following:
- Advanced Decryption Key
- N-Range
- Trauma Kit
- Heavy Machine Gun
