How to Start the Controlling for Convenience Quest
To begin the Controlling for Convenience quest in The Outer Worlds 2, speak with Persephone Doyle behind the counter inside Caffeintegration Point at Laplace’s Garden on Cloister.
She’ll introduce you to the concept of convictions! Go ahead and try one! Afterwards, she’ll suggest continuing your chat somewhere private. Go ahead and follow her to the back of the bar to learn who she really is and what she wants.
Controlling for Convenience Walkthrough
Access the Water Reconditioning Plant at Laplace’s Garden
The easiest way to gain access to the water plant is by speaking with Oracle Laureate Lesley Beckett. He’ll be north of the bar, sitting on a stool before the water.
If you mention that Persephone is a spy, he’ll say he already knows, claiming that she is harmless and that it’s better to keep a spy you know than one you don’t. Tell him that she is asking for a sample of the water. The Oracle will instruct the commander to fulfill her request, but to provide her with an altered sample containing a tracker. That way, they can see where the sample goes.
To reach the water plant, head to the east side of Laplace’s Garden. You’ll find a locked door there that you can either open with the keycard or pick if you have Lockpick 11.
Acquire a Sample of the Drug
Once you’re inside the facility, interact with the terminal, choosing the “Flocculation System” and “Collect sample for testing” options, and then input the passcode. You’ll then need to retrieve the sample from the tube to the left of the terminal.
Create an Altered Sample
If you want to help out Beckett, then you’ll need to use the device on the right side of the terminal to modify the sample to include the liquid tracker.
Deliver the Sample to Persephone
With the sample in hand, it’s time to bring it back to Persephone, who will still be behind Caffeintegration Point. Speak with her to receive the following items:
- Odor of the Ascendant Kilo
- Covert Venetian Mask
- Zzzapper
- Waistcoat
- Bits x2000
Return to the Oracle Laureate
After delivering the sample to Persephone, return to the Oracle Laureate. If you gave Persephone the altered sample, you’ll receive the Plasma Pistol Frost Converter (and recipe). If you have Speech 7 and Medical 7, you get him to consider ending the Garden’s experiment.
After your conversation, the quest will be completed!
