How to Start the Stabbing at Shadows Quest
To begin the Stabbing at Shadows quest in The Outer Worlds 2, you’ll first need to complete Aza’s The Dawn of Glorious Betrayal companion quest. After doing that, travel to Praetor and head for the northwestern corner of the map, west of Central Control, to find a Glorious Dawn camp.
To reach it, you’ll need to cross the broken bridge, just before Central Control, and follow the path north. Or, you can head west of Central Control to find it in the rocks.
Upon arrival, interact with the communications device located in the corner of the camp. Aza will find a secret message from an old friend, triggering this quest.
Be sure to retrieve the Advanced Decryption Key located next to the device.
Stabbing at Shadows Walkthrough
Rendezvous with Aza’s Old Friend
Travel to Cloister, then head to the meeting point, east of Laplace’s Garden Outskirts. When you arrive, speak with Severin, who will be acting weird. If you have Speech 7, you can get him to admit that this is a trap. Exhaust his dialogue options.
If you have Speech 11, you can avoid the fight. Otherwise, you’ll need to attack! Once everyone has been dealt with, Aza will speak to you. Your next destination will be Praetor.
Located Dagmar
Return to the ship and plot a course to Praetor. After you land, travel to Central Control, in the northwestern corner of the map.
If you want to sneak in, you can approach from the rock path on the west side of the building or by disabling the Galvanic Barrier on the east side, which requires Engineering 11. The best way is to come in by the barrier, as it will put you right next to the building you need to enter.
Inside the base, head to the Sentinel Communications building located on the eastern side. To get inside, you’ll need to enter from the main entrance on the west side of the building. If you have Lockpick 4, you can enter from a vent on the northwest side of the building. From there, you’ll be able to lockpick a door.
Now that you’re inside, interact with the terminal and use the “Search Messages: from Dagmar Sharpe” option and enter Aza’s Passcode. This will grant you access to a message that provides more information about Dagmar. Exit the terminal to have a quick conversation with Aza and a call from Dagmar herself.
Confront Dagmar
Following the call, all of the inhabitants of Central Command will be alerted to your presence. Take out all of the enemies in the courtyard, then head for the main building in the back. Work your way down to the Lower Floor, dealing with the enemies along the way.
You’ll want to head for the third room on the right, coming from the south side. It will be a medical room with an AutoDoc. Examine the wall next ot the room divider to find a vent that will lead you to Dagmar’s office.
As soon as you reach Dagmar, she’ll begin pleading with you to save her. If you have a Speech or Leadership skill of 11, then you can order Aza to stand down. Otherwise, you’ll need to let the two of them talk or engage in combat. If you have the speech, you can get some answers out of her before Aza attacks.
Once she’s dealt with, Aza will speak with you. She’ll claim to be the one to lead the Dawn into the future. If you have a Speech skill of 17, you can convince her that they have outlived their usefulness. She’ll then send out a message based on the decision to the rest of the cells.
Make sure to loot Aza’s Advanced Mod Kit off of Dagmar before leaving. The quest will now be completed.
