How to Start the A Most Extraordinary Specimen Quest
To begin the A Most Extraordinary Specimen companion quest in The Outer Worlds 2, accept the message on behalf of Inez from the Courier standing next to The Value-Added Esplanade on The ACS Undisputed Claim.
Once you have the message, return to the ship and speak with Inez. You’ll then need to put the message in the terminal and listen to it with Inez.
A Most Extraordinary Specimen Walkthrough
Find the Grafting Doctor
To find the grafting doctor, travel to the northeastern part of Cloister to reach the Frozen Maw. When you arrive, head toward the cave near the edge of the water and speak with Inez about the coded distress signal.
Next, make your way inside the cave until you find a sealed door.
Inez will inspect a corpse to the right of the door and find a code breaker, which she’ll then be able to use to open the sealed door, revealing an elevator. Ride this lift to reach the Algid Menagerie.
Bypass Zyranium Leak
To bypass the Zyranium Leak if you have Engineering 4, enter the doorway across from the leak and follow the path, heading down a ladder. Equip your gas shield at the bottom then quickly head down the walkway, looking for a hatch on the right that requires Engineering 4 to halt the Zyranium Flow.
Alteratively, jump over the machinery behind the terminal to find a vent in the floor. Follow the vent to bypass the Zyranium.
When Inez stops in front of a test tube with a floating body, speak with her then interact with the terminal next to the door, exhausting all the options. When you’re ready, continue on through the door.
Deal with the Hostile Creatures
Your first option is to save the cub, which will soothe the creatures. In order to do this, you must formulate a stimulant to wake the cub up.
Take a left and follow the hallway to reach another door. Inside, explore the room and you’ll need to use the table to craft a Manufacture Stimulant. To craft this item, you will need Arctic Ginseng Extract and Medical 7. The Arctic Ginseng Extract can be found on the table near the Ursopod Cub. Make sure to also grab the Containment Room Keycard from this table.
Once you’ve crafted the item, place it in the medicament dispenser to the right of the table.
With the baby awake, head down to the room with the cub and flip the switch to open the door.
Alternatively if your Medical is not high enough, you’ll need to just kill the creatures. Either way, make sure to take a left first! On the same table as the Artic Ginseng Extract, retrieve the Containment Room Keycard.
Next, head to the opposite side of the area to find a container that you can open to loot the Critter Catcher, a unique weapon.
If you have Lockpick 2 and a Mag-Pick, unlock the cage next to the bathroom to receive the Cystypig pet!
In the bathroom, take the vent to reach the area with all the creatures.
Confront the Doctor
On the northwestern side of the room with all the creatures, you’ll find Dr. Giles Rasmussen. Speak with him. You can decide to either kill him or let him go.
Collect Grafting Specimen
After speaking with Dr. Rasmussen, collect both grafting parts.
Return to Ethel’s Lab
With your task here complete, return to your ship and travel to Eden’s Paradise Island. Once there, head to Ethel’s lab on the northern side of Fairfield and speak with Ethel Tinsley. Afterwards, the mission will complete, and the Half-Truths in Advertising quest will begin!
