Routine Reconnaissance of Rarefied Resources The Outer Worlds 2

To begin the Routine Reconnaissance of Rarefied Resources side quest, you’ll need to locate and speak with Betsy Szmuch in the wilderness east of Fairfield, north of the fishing outpost. She’ll ask the commander to confirm the locations of specific rare resources found throughout Paradise Island.

Confirm Reports of Heartless Laphoria

There are two places you’ll need to travel to confirm the reports: slightly to the northwest and slightly to the southeast of Betsy’s location.

Northwestern Location (Forward Base)

After arriving at the northwestern location, you’ll notice pretty quickly that it also happens to be a minefield. Start at the forward base and head down the path to the right of Commander Torres.

When you reach the barbed wire, head down the middle of it with the giant rock on your right. This will get you to the area where the Heartless Laphoria is growing next to the Zyranium coming out of the ground. Pick one up to confirm the report.

When you reach the southeastern search area, you’ll be outside the Euphoria Coast Automech Repair Center. To find the Heartless Laphoria, you’ll want to head around the building to the southern side, where you’ll find some of the plants growing next to a pipe and pit (just a little further east from the pipe) emitting Zyranium. Interact with one of the flowers to confirm the report.

Return to the Director Szmuch

After you have confirmed both of the reports, head back to Directory Szmuch. Speak with her and let the director know that both locations have been verified. She’ll then ask you to confirm reports of another plant, Ferrochromium.

Confirm Reports of Ferrochormium

As with the Heartless Laphoria, you’ll need to travel to two different locations to verify if the Ferrochormium is growing there.

Northeastern Location
Ferrochormium Location

Make your way to the northeastern location, then head to the northwestern part of the search area. There will be a path leading down into the water. Along that path, you’ll find the Ferrochormium. Grab one to confirm the report.

Eastern Location

For the eastern location, you’ll want to head to the beach closer to Westport. You’ll find some Ferrochormium there, which you can collect to verify the reports.

Southwest Location

On the southwestern side of Paradise Island, just southeast of Mysterious Cave, you’ll find an indentation with a bunch of Crabble enemies. The Ferrochormium will be here!

Return to the Director Szmuch

After you have confirmed all three of the locations, head back to Directory Szmuch. Speak with her and let the director know that all of the locations have been verified.

She will be delighted, and the quest will complete. You’ll then be rewarded with some bits, EXP, Auntie’s Choice rep, a Sentry Blade Covert Grip recipe, and a Defensive Plates recipe.
