Preparing for the Hunt

Moldugas are dangerous mini-bosses that dwell beneath the sands of the Gerudo Desert. Before setting out, make sure you’re equipped with:

  • Strong Weapons: Two-handed weapons or high-damage bows are recommended.
  • Bombs: Remote Bombs are essential for luring the Molduga out of the sand.
  • Heat/Cold Resistance: Depending on the time of day, bring gear or meals that protect against Gerudo Desert’s harsh conditions.
  • Healing Items: Moldugas can deal heavy damage, so stock up on food or elixirs.

Where to Find Moldugas

There are four Moldugas roaming the Gerudo Desert. Any of them can provide the required Molduga Guts. We fought the one at the Southern Oasis, which is south of Gerudo Town.

How to Defeat a Molduga

  1. Stay Off the Sand: Climb onto nearby rocks or ruins to avoid being attacked when the Molduga surfaces.
  2. Bait with Bombs: Toss a Remote Bomb onto the sand. When the Molduga leaps out to devour it, detonate the bomb to stun it.
  3. Attack While Stunned: Rush in with your strongest melee weapon or unleash charged bow shots.
  4. Repeat the Process: Continue baiting with bombs and striking while it’s stunned until the Molduga is defeated.

Upon defeat, it will drop Molduga Guts along with other useful materials.

Returning to Malena

Bring the Molduga Guts back to Malena in Gerudo Town. She’ll be overjoyed and thanks you for saving her husband’s life. As a reward, she gives you 300 rupees, completing the side quest.
