The Forgotten Sword Side Quest in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild serves as a companion quest to the Eighth Heroine. Once you’ve uncovered the massive statue in the Gerudo Highlands, Bozai will ask you to locate the sword that once belonged to the legendary heroine. Hidden nearby in the snow-covered peaks, this task will test your exploration skills and your ability to endure the region’s freezing conditions. Successfully completing the quest adds another piece of Gerudo lore to your adventure.

How to Start The Forgotten Sword Quest
To begin The Forgotten Sword side quest in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, speak with Bozai outside Gerudo Town after completing The Eighth Heroine side quest.
How to Complete The Forgotten Sword Quest
The eighth heroine actually had a sword! Bozai may have just made it up, but it seems worth checking out, at least. The sword said to be once held by the eighth heroine is most likely somewhere in the Gerudo Highlands. Show a picture of the eighth heroine’s sword to Bozai to get the snow boots.
Preparing for the Search
The Gerudo Highlands are bitterly cold, especially at high altitudes. You’ll need:
- Cold Resistance: Either wear warm gear (Snowquill Armor or Ruby Circlet) or bring meals/elixirs with Cold Resistance.
- Climbing Supplies: Stamina food and climbing gear will make scaling the icy cliffs easier.
- Camera Rune: Ensure you have the Camera activated from the Hateno Tech Lab.
Finding the Forgotten Sword
Head back into the Gerudo Highlands. Once there, head southeast of the Eighth Heroine statue to the Gerudo Summit. You’ll find the Forgotten Sword sticking out of the ground on the southern side of the Gerudo Summit.
Once you reach the sword, use the Camera Rune to snap a clear picture.
Returning to Bozai
With the photograph in hand, return to Gerudo Town and show it to Bozai. He’ll be thrilled with the discovery, completing the side quest. As thanks, he rewards you with the Snow Boots, which let Link move quickly across snow without slowing down.
