How to Start The Carpenter’s Story Questline
To begin The Carpenter’s Story questline in Fantasy Life i, select the Carpenter Life License in Eternia Village’s Guild Office.
Next, speak with Daiku on the west side of Eternia Village at the Carpenter’s Guild to become a Novice.
Carpenter Life Challenges
Novice Challenges
A Comfy Sofa, Specially Made
Head north to the Woodcutter’s Guild and speak with Chopin to acquire 3 Oak Logs. Once you have the logs, return to Daiku. He’ll give you the Oak Lumber recipe. Move to the workbench next to Daiku and craft the Oak Lumber.
After you finish crafting, speak with Daiku again. He’ll then task you with traveling to the Capital of Mysteria. Once there, enter the House of Cats on the western side just past the Inn and Tavern.
Inside, speak with Mama to learn what she needs help crafting.
Next, travel back to Eternia Village and speak with Chantille in the Tailor’s Guild, which is on the west side of town.
She’ll give you Fluffy Fabric! Now that you have the material, speak with Mezza, and she will give you the Bespoke Tropical Sofa recipe.
Since you have the recipe, interact with the workbench and begin crafting. Return to Mezza to trigger a cutscene. As a reward, you’ll receive 500 Dosh!
Fledgling Challenges
A New Tropical Life
For the A New Tropical Life life challenge, you’ll need to craft a Tropical Dresser. To craft this item, you’ll need the following items:
- Palm Lumber x3
- Purchase for 130 Dosh from the Material Shop in Eternia Village
- Oak Lumber x1
- Purchase for 130 Dosh from the Material Shop in Eternia Village
- Woven Straw Fabric x1
- Purchase for 80 Dosh from the Material Shop in Eternia Village
As a reward, you’ll receive 100 Stars.
A Tropical Night’s Sleep
For the A Tropical Night’s Sleep life challenge, you’ll need to craft a Tropical Bed. To craft this item, you’ll need the following items:
- Palm Lumber x4
- Purchase for 130 Dosh from the Material Shop in Eternia Village
- Dandelion Puff x2
- Purchase for 30 Dosh from the Material Shop in Eternia Village
- Woven Straw Fabric x2
- Purchase for 80 Dosh from the Material Shop in Eternia Village
As a reward, you’ll receive 100 Stars.
Basics of Carpentry
For the Basics of Carpentry life challenge, you’ll need to craft using Palm Lumber 10 times. You will need three Palm Logs to craft one Palm Lumber. You can get the Palm Logs from chopping Palm Trees and Palm Fruit Trees near the beaches of Eternia Village. As a reward, you’ll receive 100 Stars.
Fledgling Carpenter Skills
For the Fledgling Carpenter Skills life challenge, you’ll need to get an Excellent while crafting 20 times. As a reward, you’ll receive 200 Stars.
Kick Back in the Tropics
For the Kick Back in the Tropics life challenge, you’ll need to craft a Tropical Sofa. To craft this item, you’ll need the following items:
- Palm Lumber x3
- Purchase for 130 Dosh from the Material Shop in Eternia Village
- Woven Straw Fabric x2
- Purchase for 80 Dosh from the Material Shop in Eternia Village
As a reward, you’ll receive 100 Stars.
The Fledgling Carpenter
For The Fledgling Carpenter life challenge, you’ll need to craft without getting below Great 10 times. As a reward, you’ll receive 150 Stars.
To Dine in the Tropics
For the To Dine in the Tropics life challenge, you’ll need to craft a Tropical Table. To craft this item, you’ll need the following items:
- Palm Lumber x3
- Purchase for 130 Dosh from the Material Shop in Eternia Village
- Woven Straw Fabric x1
- Purchase for 80 Dosh from the Material Shop in Eternia Village
As a reward, you’ll receive 100 Stars.
Welcome to Life in Paradise
For the Welcome to Life in Paradise life challenge, you’ll need to craft a Tropical Chair. To craft this item, you’ll need the following items:
- Palm Lumber x1
- Purchase for 130 Dosh from the Material Shop in Eternia Village
- Palm Log x1
- Purchase for 50 Dosh from the Material Shop in Eternia Village
As a reward, you’ll receive 100 Stars.

A Regal Yet Low Table
For this life challenge, you’ll need to craft a Regal Low Table. To craft this item, you’ll need the following materials:
- Haniwa Stone x3
- Yellow Stone x1
For the Haniwa Stone, mine it from the ore deposits in the West Dryridge Desert.
You can purchase Yellow Stone for 130 Dosh from the Material Shop in the Capital of Mysteria or the Blacksmith’s Guild in Eternia Village. Alternatively, you can mine it from ore deposits. We found ours by hitting the Sweet Spots at the ore deposits in the Miner’s Novice Pit northwest of Eternia Village.
As a reward for crafting a Regal Low Table, you’ll receive 250 Stars.
A Royal Dream
For this life challenge, you’ll need to craft a Regal Bed. To craft this item, you’ll need the following materials:
- Haniwa Stone x4
- Dandelion Puff x2
- Wool x1
For the Haniwa Stone, mine it from the ore deposits in the West Dryridge Desert.
Dandelion Puffs can be found around the Capital of Mysteria and Eternia Village. Alternatively, you can purchase them for 30 Dosh from the Material Shop in the Capital of Mysteria.
To craft Wool (a tailor recipe), you’ll need 2 Sheep Fleece. Sheep Fleece is dropped from White Woolies, which can be found west of the Capital of Mysteria. Alternatively, you can purchase the Sheep Fleece from the Material Shop in the Capital of Mysteria.
As a reward for crafting a Regal Bed, you’ll receive 250 Stars.
Apprentice Carpenter Skills
For this life challenge, you’ll need to get an Excellent 40 times. As a reward, you’ll receive 350 Stars.
Crafting My Own Tools #1
For this life challenge, you’ll need to craft a Pine Saw with Good or Better quality. To craft this item, you’ll need the following materials:
- Pine Lumber x3
To craft a Pine Lumber, you will need three Pine Logs. You can acquire Pine Logs by chopping down the Pine Trees in Lulab Forest. Alternatively, you can purchase it for 80 Dosh from the Material Shop at Terrasa Farm on Faraway Island.
As a reward, you’ll receive 400 Stars.
Living the High Life
For this life challenge, you’ll need to craft a Regal Chair. To craft this item, you’ll need the following materials:
- Haniwa Stone x1
- Yellow Stone x1

For this life challenge, you’ll need to craft a Regal Sofa. To craft this item, you’ll need the following materials:
- Haniwa Stone x3
- Wool x1
For the Haniwa Stone, mine it from the ore deposits in the West Dryridge Desert.
To craft Wool (a tailor recipe), you’ll need 2 Sheep Fleece. Sheep Fleece is dropped from White Woolies, which can be found west of the Capital of Mysteria. Alternatively, you can purchase the Sheep Fleece from the Material Shop in the Capital of Mysteria.
As a reward for crafting a Regal Sofa, you’ll receive 250 Stars.
The Apprentice Carpenter
For this life challenge, you’ll need to craft without getting below Great 20 times. As a reward, you’ll receive 350 Stars.
To Dine Like Nobles
For this life challenge, you’ll need to craft a Regal Table. To craft this item, you’ll need the following materials:
- Haniwa Stone x2
- Yellow Stone x1

To craft a Pine Lumber, you’ll need 3 Pine Logs, which you can get by chopping down Pine Trees in the Lulab Forest on Faraway Island.
As a reward for crafting the Forest Dining Table, you’ll receive 350 Stars.
A Forest to Relax in
For this life challenge, you’ll need to craft 1 Forest Sofa. To craft this item, you’ll need the following materials:
- Pine Lumber x3
- Silk x1
- Woven Straw Fabric x1
To craft a Pine Lumber, you’ll need 3 Pine Logs, which you can get by chopping down Pine Trees in the Lulab Forest on Faraway Island.

For this life challenge, you’ll need to craft 1 Forest Wardrobe. To craft this item, you’ll need the following materials:
- Pine Lumber x2
To craft a Pine Lumber, you’ll need 3 Pine Logs, which you can get by chopping down Pine Trees in the Lulab Forest on Faraway Island.
As a reward for crafting a Forest Wardrobe, you’ll receive 350 Stars.
A Tree for Spring
For this life challenge, you’ll need to craft using Cherry Lumber 5 times.
To craft a Cherry Lumber, you’ll need 3 Cherry Logs, which you can harvest from Cherry Trees in the Lulab Forest on Faraway Island and Terrasa Farm on Faraway Island.
As a reward for crafting the Cherry Lumber, you’ll receive 350 Stars.
Adept Carpenter Skills
For this life challenge, you’ll need to get an Excellent 60 times while crafting. As a reward, you’ll receive 400 Stars.
Adept Sawing Skills
For this life challenge, you’ll need to get a Great or Better when crafting 1 time. As a reward, you’ll receive 700 Stars.
Crafting My Own Tools #2
For this life challenge, you’ll need to craft 1 Cherry Saw with Good or Better quality. To craft this item, you’ll need the following materials:
- Cherry Lumber x3
To craft a Cherry Lumber, you’ll need 3 Cherry Logs, which you can harvest from Cherry Trees in the Lulab Forest on Faraway Island and Terrasa Farm on Faraway Island.
As a reward for crafting Cherry Saw, you’ll receive 450 Stars.

For this life challenge, you’ll need to craft 1 Forest Bed. To craft this item, you’ll need the following materials:
