How to Start the Ulterior Motives Quest
To begin the Ulterior Motives quest in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, speak with Raminus Polus in the lobby of the Arcane University after completing A Mage’s Staff quest.
Ulterior Motives Walkthrough
Retrieve a book from Janus
Travel to Castle Skingrad and speak with Mercator Hosidus. Afterwards, wait one day then speak with him again to learn that the Count will meet with us, just not here. Instead, travel just west of town at 2 am to find Mondrar Henim.
Wait until Mercator shows up to learn that this is a trap!
While fighting the three goons, Count Hassildor will show up and assist in the battle.
Deliver the Count’s Message
Return to Raminus Polus to deliver Count Janus Hassildor’s message. The Ulterior Motives quest will then complete!
