How to Start the Chorrol Recommendation Quest
To begin the Chorrol Recommendation quest in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, speak with Teekeeus in the Chorrol Mages Guild.
Chorrol Recommendation Walkthrough
Speak to Earana
You’ll find Earana in The Grey Mare or wandering around the Mages Guild. Speak with her to learn that she’s looking for a book called Fingers of the Mountain so that she may translate it.
Return to Teekeeus
You must speak with Teekeeus about the book first, even though Earana wanted to keep it a secret. Otherwise, the quest will not progress.
Return to Teekeeus and speak with him about the Fingers of the Mountain. He’ll want you to acquire the text before Earana.
Find the Fingers of the Mountain
Travel to Cloud Top, which is northwest of Chorrol.
Once there, loot the Charred Remains to acquire the Fingers of the Mountain.
Deliver the Book
You can deliver the book straight to Teekeeus, who will be overjoyed and give you his recommendation. If you choose to go this route, you will not learn a new spell. The guide below covers the “best route” to take for the best possible outcome of this quest!
Travel to The Grey Mare and deliver the book to Earana. She’ll then take it and begin translating the text. Wait 24 hours and speak with her to receive her translation for a portion of the book you delivered to her.
Read Earana’s Notes to learn that you’ll need to find a Welkynd Stone and know the Shock spell. Welkynd Stones can be found in Ayleid ruins. You can purchase the Shocking Touch spell from Edgar’s Discount Spells in the Market District of the Imperial City if you need a shock spell.
Before setting off for Cloud Top, speak with Teekeeus and tell him that you gave the book to Earana. He’ll be furious of course and request that you steal it back from her. During the day, Earana leaves The Grey Mare, so make your way over there while she is out and lockpick the very easy chest behind the door in her room. Her door is the one on the right side!
After you get the Fingers of the Mountain book, deliver it to Teekeeus, who will write you a recommendation now.
Next, travel to Cloud Top with your Welkynd Stone and use your shock spell on the pillar. You’ll then be struck by lightning and will be granted a new powerful spell called Finger of the Mountain! The Fingers on the Mountain, Part II quest will then end.
