How to Start The Ghost Ship of Anvil Quest
To begin “The Ghost Ship of Anvil” quest in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, speak with Varulae on her ship at the Anvil Docks and agree to help her retrieve her crystal ball.

Retrieve the Crystal Ball
Since she warns you that ghosts are inside, make sure to have a silver weapon and spells equipped, as these are the only things that will damage them. Be warned, these ghosts like to Silence you a lot, which prevents you from using your spells.
If you need a silver weapon, you can steal one from the Bruma Castle Dungeon. Once inside the dungeon, enter the jailor’s bedroom (which is before descending the stairs to the actual dungeon). You’ll find it on top of the drawers.
Once you’re prepared, use the key Varulae gave you to enter the hold of the Serpent’s Wake. Head through the wooden door straight ahead and loot the dead captain’s corpse to receive the Serpent’s Wake Captain’s Key and Serpent’s Wake Key.
Use the key to loot the Captain’s Chest by the bed. Inside, you’ll find the Ring of Storms, which has the Resist Shock on Self 20% effect, amongst other things.
Next, exit this room and use the Trap Door to Serpents Wake Mid Deck. This door will be located on the floor. In this next area, you’ll need to deal with two Spectrals.
After you’ve dispatched them, enter the Trap Door to Serpents Wake Cargo Hold. Two more Spectrals will attack you in this small area. Take them out then loot the chest next to the stairs to find Varulae’s Crystal Ball.
Deliver Crystal Ball
Exit the interior part of the ship and speak with Varulae to deliver her crystal ball. The Ghost Ship of Anvil will end, and you’ll receive the Redwave weapon as a reward. This one-handed longword blade has the Drain Health on Strike 15 pts 6 s effect.
