Welcome to NGB and our walkthrough on the Clair Obscur Expedition 33 Prologue! This guide will cover everything important from the side quests to the collectibles.

Expedition 33 Prologue Walkthrough
Flower for Sophie
When you first gain control of Gustave, interact with the rose on the bench. When prompted, say yes to take it!
Colour of Lumina
Next, follow Maelle, grappling across the roofs, until you reach a bridge where you’ll experience your first duel. Play the battle tutorial to learn combat if you wish! If you win, you’ll get the Colour of Lumina, which can be consumed to give additional Lumina Point to a character.
125 Chroma
After the duel, speak with Maelle one more time near the beam of light that will allow you to descend. At the bottom, approach Sophie to trigger a cutscene where Gustave will give her the rose.
When you gain control of Sophie, follow the path to the right of the red and white tree. On the right side of the path, you’ll find 125 Chroma amongst the covered crates.
Speak with Tiffanie
Continue along the path and speak with Tiffanie by the flower stall.
Speak with Marie
When you reach the giant statue in the middle of the plaza, speak with Marie who is standing next to her daughter for some dialog.

From Marie, head right. To the right, you’ll find some Chroma on a stack of wooden boards.
Speak with Cyril
Keep circling the fountain and speak with Cyril, who is wearing the green coat. He’ll want you to think of a headline.
Speak with Estelle
Just past Cyril, you’ll find a statue with Estelle standing in front of it. She’ll want to know how to make it better. We said color and she liked that!
Speak with Ulysse
Speak with the two kids wearing masks just past Estelle for some dialog.
Speak with Richard
Follow the path of statues just past the kids and speak with Richard, who is wearing a red coat. He’ll tell you of the fight he had with his son and will give you a coat that Gustave can give to his son after his passing.
Speak with Eloise / Colour of Lumina
When you reach the expedition stage, speak with the girl in black on the left. She’ll comment on how the expedition is a joke, prompting Gustave to fight a balloon to show his strength.
In order to pass the challenge, you’ll need to destroy it in one hit. You can do this by charging the Overcharge Meter with Lumiere Assault skill and basic attacks. Once you’ve built the Overcharge to 10, use the Overcharge skill to destroy the balloon. As a reward, you’ll receive the Colour of Lumina, which can be consumed to give an additional Lumina Point to a character.
Speak with Raphael
Speak with Raphael across from Eloise for some dialog.
Speak with Ophelie
In the Flower Market, speak with Ophelie in front of her flower stall for some dialog.
Speak with Nicolas / Recoat
Just past the Flower Market, speak with the painter by his empty canvas. He’ll need some inspiration and request a show. You’ll play as Gustave and will need to dodge three sets of Sophie’s attacks. As a reward for inspiring him, you’ll receive Recoat, which can be consumed to reallocate a character’s Attributes or Skill Points.
Speak with Maxime
Behind the statue next to Nicolas, head up to the patio in front of the cafe and speak with Maxime, who is wearing a red coat.
Trash-can Man / Chroma Catalyst
When facing Maxime, head right and go down the stairs. Interact with the trashcan. The Trash-can Man will speak to you from inside and you’ll receive the Chroma Catalyst, which can be used at Camp to upgrade weapons up to Level 3.
125 Chroma
On the upper balcony in front of the Cremerie Restaurant Fromagerie, which is across from the trashcan.
Speak with Maelle
Just before the harbour, speak with Maelle standing next to the giant statue for some dialog.
Speak with Henri
From Maelle, head right towards the stage with all dancers. Speak with Henri about the show.
A Peculiar Encounter Trophy
To the right of the stage, you’ll spot a weird mime. Speak with it and say hello! This will lead to a fight against it. To beat the mime, charge up your Overcharge then hit him with it when it reaches 10. You can charge it by using a combination of the Lumiere Assault skill and basic attacks.
When he uses the hand-to-hand combo, dodge or parry them. Watch out for the strange attack as it has a chance of silencing you, which will prevent you from using skills for a turn. When you hit him with Overcharge, this will give you a Break status. Finish the mime off with a Lumiere Assault attack to defeat him. This will trigger the Overcharge trophy for using a fully charged Overcharge to Break an enemy. The Time to Spill Some Ink trophy will also pop since you inflicted Break on an enemy.
After defeating the mime in Lumiere, you’ll receive the A Peculiar Encounter Trophy. As a reward, you’ll receive the Lumiere, a music record that can be used at Camp. You’ll need this record for the Connoisseur trophy.
Speak with Victor
Backtrack to the other side of the large statue just before the harbour and speak with the guy wearing the blue jacket.
Speak with Eugene
Behind Victor, speak with the group of three guys for some dialog.
125 Chroma
Behind the group of guys, you’ll spot a table with flowers. Collect the Chroma from behind this table.
Festival Token
After the lengthy cutscene, you’ll receive a Festival Token, which can be used at the Festival to get prizes.
Dialog
For some more dialog, speak with the following people:

- Bastien
- Lune
- Catherine
- Lucien
Journal
Speak with the group of kids, specifically Alexandre, and he’ll give you this journal.
Speak with Jules
Speak with the kid wearing a red coat to finish the task given to us earlier from his father, Richard. As a reward, he’ll want us to keep the red coat his father gave us to give to him.
Festival Token
Speak with Antoine, who is wearing a white coat. He’ll want to have a history battle with Gustave before he sets off on his expedition. Agree!
- How many years ago was the Fracture? – 67 years ago
- Which was the first expedition to depart for the continent? – Expedition Zero
- What is a “Lumina”? – Abilities you internalise by using a Pictos in battle after enough times. As a reward, you’ll receive a Festival Token.
Festival Token
Head down to the dock and speak with Maelle, who wants a rematch! You’ll need to parry her attacks so you can do a counterattack, which will deal extra damage to her. Otherwise, she’ll outdamage you! If you win, you’ll receive a Festival Token.
Exchange Festival Tokens
Head to each of the green, red, and blue stalls to exchange your tokens for items. You’ll receive the following:
- Weird Pictos – A quick inspection is enough to say that this Pictos is unusable as is.
- New haircut
- Old Key – An old key for an old door.
Speak with Emma
Speak with Emma near the stairs when you’re ready to conclude the Expedition 33 Prologue.
