How to Start the Bruma Recommendation Quest
To begin the Bruma Recommendation quest in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, speak with Jeanne Frasoric in the Bruma Mages Guild and join the Mages Guild. Afterwards, select the “Recommendation” option to learn that she’ll write you a recommendation for the Arcane University if you can find J’skar.

Speak with Volanaro
In the Bruma Mages Guild, speak with Volanaro. He’ll agree to help you find J’skar in exchange for a favor. He’ll insist that you don’t tell Jeanne about the prank. After agreeing, ask him about the prank and he’ll tell you the details.
Retrieve the Manual of Spellcraft
Once you’ve learned what you need to do, head upstairs to Jeanne’s room. Lockpick the desk (with a lockpick or the spell), then loot the Manual of Spellcraft. When it’s in your possession, return to Volanaro and hand it over. If the time is 10 pm or later, you’ll need to wait until the next day to hand over the manual. Just make sure to do it before 10 pm.
Wait until 10 pm
Volanaro will then want you to wait until 10 pm. To quickly pass time, open your map and select “Wait”. Once it’s 10 pm, head downstairs in the Bruma Mages Guild and enter the Living Quarters. Speak with Volanaro in his room, and he’ll summon J’skar.
Return to Jeanne
After speaking with J’skar, head upstairs and talk to Jeanne in her room to tell her that J’skar is visible again. Afterward, the Bruma Recommendation quest will end. Jeanne will then agree to send a recommendation to Raminus Polus.
