How to Start the Reporting for Duty Affinity Mission
In Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition, affinity and main story missions are unique in that you can only undertake one at a time. If you begin an affinity mission, you won’t be able to start a main story mission, and vice versa. Furthermore, you can only have one affinity or story mission active at any given time.
The Reporting for Duty affinity mission in Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition can be found in NLA’s Administrative District. The recommended level for this mission is 48 and the required level is 41. To begin this mission, you must complete Chapter 10. The primary destination is Sylvalum. The required affinity with Nagi is Rank 3.

Objectives
- Head to Sylvalum’s Hilal Stronghold
- Talk to the survivors inside Sylvalum’s Hilal Stronghold
- Head to Sylvalum’s Badr Stronghold and rescue the survivors
Reporting for Duty Walkthrough
After accepting the mission, travel to Sylvalum and head for the Hilal Stronghold. It is in the southern part of the region, just east of the northern part of Seabird’s Beak. You can also quickly reach it by traveling to the Hilal Meadow landmark if it is unlocked. Once you get close to the stronghold, a cutscene will trigger.
When it concludes, head inside the stronghold and make your way to the southwestern corner. Along the way, you’ll come across enemies in the low to mid-30s. When you get there, enter the building marked by the objective marker.
There will be Level 40 enemies outside who guard it and another pair of them on the inside. You’ll want to head to the 2nd level of the building, where you’ll be attacked by a level 44 Milsaadi Executioner. Defeat it, then interact with Marla to trigger a cutscene.
If you’re having issues with the enemies here, you can bring in your Skell and use the Phoenix weapon to clear them all out. Then you’ll only have to fight the executioner.
Once the cutscene ends, set out for Badr Stronghold. It can be found in the region’s western part, west of Badr Basin. Upon arriving, enter the stronghold and head for the small building on the hill. Go inside to trigger a badass cutscene leading to a fight against a level 48 Marnuck Commander accompanied by two level 41 Marnuck Soldiers.
Now that all of the enemies have been defeated, return to NLA and head for the Mimeosome Maintenance Center in the southern part of the Administrative District. Interact with its entrance for one last cutscene, leading to the completion of the mission.

As a reward for completing the Reporting for Duty affinity mission, you’ll receive the following:
