How to Start the Mystery Man Mission
To begin the Mystery Man mission in Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition, speak with Professor B in the northern part of the Industrial District. This quest becomes available after completing Chapter 5, and the recommended level for this mission is 21.
Mystery Man Walkthrough
Obtain Tykki Sap at Noctilum’s Waterway Tangle
Travel to the Waterway Tangle in the northern part of Noctilum, located east of the Old Dragontail Tree landmark. As you approach the objective marker, a cutscene will trigger, and a man named Gadd will appear and ask your group some questions. Choose the bottom option, asking who Gadd is.
He’ll be annoyed by your answer, which will lead to a showdown between him (level 19) and his squad of three BLADE snipers (level 17). You’ll want to focus on Gadd first, then his support. Also, watch your health as they can quickly deal severe damage. Once they have all been taken care of, pick up the tykki sap on the ground nearby in the form of a red-colored item.
Talk to Professor B
Return to Professor B in the Central Industrial District of NLA to deliver the sap. In the process, he’ll give you some more information about himself before sending you off.
Talk to Graham
Head to Central Melville Street in the Commercial District, then locate and speak with Graham. He is in a parking lot in the southwestern part of the area. You’ll tell him that the professor sent you, which will prompt Graham to ask you which car you want. You’ll get three options and must pay a different price for each. Pick whichever you fancy; it’s on the professor anyway.

Talk to Professor B
Return to the lab and speak with the professor once more. This time, he’ll be trying to convince his assistant to try the new time machine he converted the car to. It will be up to you to give him the final nudge he needs. Following the test, speak with Professor B once more.
Gather Topaz Wine from a Clay Tectinsula or Others
To collect the Topaz Wine, you’ll need to travel to Oblivia. Once there, locate and defeat some Clay Tectinsual until one drops the wine. You’ll then need to bring it back to the professor at his lab. After another cutscene, the mission will be completed.

As a reward for completing the Mystery Man mission, you’ll receive the following:
