How to Start the Nine Lives Affinity Mission
In Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition, affinity and main story missions are unique in that you can only undertake one at a time. If you begin an affinity mission, you won’t be able to start a main story mission, and vice versa. Furthermore, you can only have one affinity or story mission active at any given time.
To begin the Nine Lives affinity mission in Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition, you must first complete Chapter 5. This quest is located in NLA’s Commercial District. The recommended level for this mission is 21 and the required level is 20. The primary destination for this mission is Primordia.
Nine Lives Walkthrough
Help Gwin’s subordinate Mathias with his work.
Gather information about Aisha in the lower Administrative District
Travel to the garage with a bunch of vehicles just southwest of the Hangar landmark. Look for Nathan, Conner, and Monica huddled together and listen to their conversation.
Meet Mathias at the Integrated Production Plant
Head on over to the Integrated Production Plant in the Industrial District and speak with Mathias to trigger a cutscene.
Follow Mathias to Primordia’s Cliffside Beach
Once the cutscene ends, travel east of NLA to the Cliffside Beach where you’ll find Mathias and a monster. Defeat the Level 20 Shallows Grex.
Gather three units of Kiran Catnip in Primordia
You can find Kiran Catnip at Biahno Hills, Green Threshold, and Stickstone Rise in Primordia.
Give the Kiran Catnip to Mathias
Once you have the Kiran Catnip, travel to Primoridia’s Cliffside Beach and deliver the items to Mathias to trigger a cutscene. Once the cutscene ends, you’ll find yourself in a battle against a Level 21 Greedy Forfex. Defeat the crab!
Check on Mathias and Aisha
You’ll find Mathias on Division Drive in the Administrative District. Speak with him to trigger a cutscene! The Nine Lives affinity mission will then end. You’ll now be able to unlock pets by completing Basic Missions.
Completion Rewards
As a reward for completing the Nine Lives affinity mission, you’ll receive the following:
- Experience x220
- Reward Money x13,000
- Abyssinian (cat)
- Longsword Art “Ultraslash”
