Welcome to NGB and our Dragon Age: The Veilguard walkthrough on the Through the Shadows quest. This guide will cover everything you need to know so you can easily complete the quest. You’ll find everything from how to start it to the rewards you’ll get at the end.

How to Start Through the Shadows
To begin the Through the Shadows quest, speak with Bellara at the Lighthouse after completing the Blood of Arlathan main quest and speaking with Solas.

Through the Shadows Walkthrough
For this quest, travel to the Mystical Tower in Arlathan Forest.
Once there, speak with Bellara to kick off the quest.

After your conversation, head into the Cliffside Boardwalk where you’ll find a puzzle. Point the beam of light at the door to cause it to open then head inside.
For the second beam of light, point it at the left reserve.
Return to the first beam of light and point it at the right reserve. This will make a bridge!
Cross it then head through the door and proceed through the Ancient Capital to the Great Hall where you’ll find some amplifiers. Once there, follow Bellara.

Next, sabotage the device then defeat the enemies that spawn as you make your way to the three amplifiers and destroy them, too. Once all have been destroyed, sabotage the main crystal amplifiers. You’ll then need to destroy 3 more amplifiers, more enemies and the main crystal.
When the ritual has been delayed, continue through the Floating Ruins and jump into the portal to reach the Lower Chamber.
To get past the barrier, you’ll need to energize the console by moving 5 beams of light to the correct anchors.
When you enter the room, go past the statues and turn left and go up the stairs to find the power crystal. Bring this crystal down the stairs and place it in the receptacle. Activate this beam and put it above the entrance that you just came through to form a bridge.
Next, go up the stairs where you got the power core, but this time take a left and follow the path around to reach another beam. Point this beam at the north central reserve.
Head back around and when you reach the steps, climb up the ladder. Follow the walkway around to reach the next beam. Point this one at the second from the left reserve.
Head east then travel across the bridge to reach the next beam. Point this one at the far right reserve.
From there, continue heading east to find a set of stairs. At the bottom, drop the ladder then head left down the walkway to reach the next beam. Point this at the second reserve from the right. Drop down on the ledge to your left. Use the beam that is currently forming the bridge and turn it to the far left reserve.
Now that the console is activated, disable the barrier. Head deeper into the Lower Chamber to reach the door leading to the ritual.

After the cutscene, you’ll engage in a boss fight against Anaris. During the fight, you’ll need to break the crystals to deal damage to Anaris. Once you’ve defeated Anaris, the quest will complete.
